More Details Regarding Jonathan Majors’ Conviction

According to The Hollywood Reporter, a six-person jury found Majors guilty of assault in the third degree and guilty of harassment on Monday, December 18.

The group’s deliberation reportedly took three days. As The Shade Room previously reported, closing arguments in Majors’ trial were shared on Thursday, December 14.

As the verdict was read, Majors allegedly sat with his family and current girlfriend, Meagan Good, behind him.

The 34-year-old was reportedly found not guilty on one count of assault in the third degree. Additionally, the actor was found not guilty of aggravated harassment in the second degree.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg released a statement in response to the jury’s verdict.

According to The Independent, the actor’s sentencing date has been scheduled for February 6.

Grace Jabbari’s Abuse Allegations Against Jonathan Majors

As The Shade Room previously reported, the actor’s alleged abuse of Jabbari took place after the former couple left a dinner date in March. Jabbari testified in court that she saw a text message pop up on Majors’ phone which read, “I wish I was kissing you right now.”

When she and Majors entered their hired car, she attempted to grab his phone.

“[I felt] what I knew to be the weight of him on top of me as he tried to pry the phone from my fingers,” Jabbari told the jury, per PEOPLE.

Additionally, Jabbari alleged that the actor twisted her arm and struck “a really hard blow” to her head.

Surveillance footage revealed during the trial then showed that Majors exited the vehicle while Jabbari attempted to follow.

A Brief Recap Of The Actor’s Trial

As The Shade Room previously reported, the actor’s trial began with opening statements that recounted his romance with Jabbari as “fast” moving. After a couple of months, prosecutors alleged that Majors’ “rage and aggression” began to become more apparent to his ex.

Jabbari documented their alleged disputes with photo evidence shown in court, a recording that showed Majors asking her to behave like Coretta Scott King or Michelle Obama, and text message exchanges where he pled with her to keep from reporting her injuries to doctors.

Additionally, Majors threatened to commit suicide in the message exchanges.

As The Shade Room previously reported, the former couple’s driver also testified about what occurred between the pair in his vehicle. Naveed Sarwar alleged that Majors “was not doing anything” while Jabbari “was doing everything.”

“Many things were happening, I had the feeling the girl had hit the boy,” the taxi driver explained, per PEOPLE.

Additionally, Sarwar alleged that Majors was “trying to get rid of” Jabbari.

“He was trying to get rid of her,” Sarwar insisted, per PEOPLE. “He was saying, ‘Leave me alone, I have to go…’ He was not doing anything. She was doing everything.”

As The Shade Room previously reported, Majors maintained his innocence throughout the trial. The actor’s defense attorneys alleged that Jabbari’s claims were based on “fantasies” and “lies.”

Furthermore, Majors’ defense seemingly questioned Jabbari’s injuries allegedly sustained that evening. According to Rolling Stone, her injuries included a “fractured finger, bruising about her body, a laceration behind her right ear, and a bump on her head.”

“This whole trial has been about what happened in that car, even though the People want this trial to be about arguments from months and years ago,” Chaudhry told the court, per The Hollywood Reporter. “What happened in the car is obvious. The real mystery is what happened after Grace got home?”

Meanwhile, prosecutors pointed to Majors’s alleged “control, domination, manipulation and abuse” of Jabbari.

“If this was a grand plan, why would she fail to cooperate? And even when she went to … a hospital, she didn’t tell them what happened,” Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Kelli Galaway explained, per Deadline. “Is the action of someone whose sole intent is to bring a man down?… Why would she put herself through this? For what?”

Jonathan Majors may reportedly be sentenced to up to one year in jail.
