BREAKING: Tech Executive Arrested In Murder Of Cash App Founder Bob Lee

An arrest has been made concerning the murder of Cash App founder Bob Lee, and the alleged suspect also reportedly works in the tech industry.

Nima Momeni was arrested early Thursday in Emeryville, CA, near San Francisco, where Lee was stabbed. Mission Local was the first to break the news.

Knife Used In Fatal Stabbing Recovered, But Murder Motive Still Unknown

Lee was stabbed at least two times, with M.I. reporting that police recovered the knife used in the killing near the area was Lee was fatally wounded.

According to NBC Bay Area reporter Scott McGrew, people close to Lee said he had recently relocated to Miami, though he popped back into San Francisco “for a quick visit.”

Josh Goldbard—CEO of MobileCoin, a cryptocurrency for which Lee was the chief product officer (CPO)—addressed the tragic news in a statement.

“From large contributions to Android at Google to being the first CTO of Square, in that time creating Cash App, and working with us here at Mobilecoin, Bob surely had an impact that will last far beyond his short time on Earth,” Goldbard wrote.

Goldbard also told CNN Lee was “made for the world that is being born right now.”

In 2013, Lee founded the mobile payment company Cash App while working at former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey’s online payment platform Block–then known as Square.

In 2021, he joined MobileCoin, a crypto firm founded in 2017.
