From Power Couple To Power Parents? Claressa Shields Talks Family Plans With Papoose
Claressa Shields pulled up to ‘The Pivot’ podcast and didn’t hold back on spilling all the tea about her future plans with Papoose. The boxing champ let it be known that they are planning to have a baby as soon as next year. But they aren’t stopping at just one! Claressa said she’s trying to have a kid and jump right back in the ring, and then run it back with another mini-me. Additionally, she mentioned that she doesn’t want to wait until her 40s or after her career is done to start a family. She’s trying to be a real boss mama, juggling her legacy and motherhood all at the same time.
“I want to be able to run at the park with my kids and stuff like that. I don’t want to be too old. So, I think keeping my body in shape.. I don’t drink or smoke. I think that will also help me too, when I’m going through this whole body and life change,” Shields said.
Claressa Reflects On Going Public With Papoose After Past Exchange With Remy Ma
Claressa didn’t just spill on her future, she also got real about being in a relationship in the public eye. Roomies, if y’all recall Remy Ma put their whole situation on blast back in December 2024 through a series of messages on social media. That’s when folks first found out Claressa and Pap were a thing.
“You make it seem like I’m somebody that came in and disrupted a happy household when I didn’t. That’s not what happened. Like I’ve said before and I’ll say it again, women can be very emotional. I think some people like the whole back and forth to try it make it seem like it’s something. I don’t even think I really went at it with her,” Claressa explained while speaking about Remy.
Despite how things unfolded online, Claressa says Papoose treats her right and continuously holds her down, in and out of the ring. “For one he’s a great man. And I think it takes a certain type of strong man to be able to deal with me. And you know, deal with me.. inside the ring, outside the ring and getting ready for a fight.”
Additionally, the athlete also shut down the narrative that she was fighting over Pap. She said they have been connected since 2024. She added that Rem was really the one to expose them when they never planned to make their relationship public.
“Me and him are solid we know what goes on in our relationship. We’re always together. We’re always connected. So we’re not fighting over a man. That’s a stupid narrative. And I’m a grown a** woman. I don’t have to fight over no man,” Shields continued.

Claressa Shields has been the talk of the town this month, especially after Laila Ali put a price tag on a potential fight with her. Laila kept it real in a recent interview, saying she will only put her gloves back on if $15 to $20 million is on the table. Well, Claressa clapped back real quick on X (formerly Twitter), letting Laila know she’s been ready and told her to watch her words.
