Roomies, hold on! It looks like wedding bells may soon ring for Common and Jennifer Hudson or so it seems.
Recently, Common joined Philly’s 100.3 R&B radio station show, where he discussed his relationship with Jennifer Hudson and his marriage plans. When the host asked about his relationship with Hudson, Common said they were “good” and stated that he “thank God for her.”
“We are together. I just appreciate her as a partner, as a woman, as a artist as a human being. She’s a special, special individual. I’m just [grateful] for her,” the rapper stated.
Regarding his marriage plans, Common emphasized that Jennifer Hudson is “the prototype and the person.” He explained that he considers marriage a serious choice and wants to be clear about his feelings about the commitment.
“And if I was to make that choice, it would be coming from the relationship that I’m in and also me saying this is what’s best for [us]. And her feeling like what’s best for us,” Common said.
The ‘Just Wright’ star further admitted that he sometimes questions the purpose of marriage but has come to realize “there is some purpose.”
The Roommates immediately flooded The Shade Room comment section sharing their thoughts on Common’s statements.
Common and Jennifer Hudson first ignited dating rumors in November 2023, when The Daily Mail shared footage of them together in New York City.
As TSR previously reported, fans speculated they were a couple after seeing them holding hands outside Joe’s Pub. At the start of this year, Common confirmed the relationship during his appearance on Jennifer Hudson’s talk show.
In a teaser clip for the show, J.Hud asked if he was seeing someone, and with a laugh, Common revealed that he was taken. He later eventually dropped hints that he was dating Jennifer by adding comments that she’s an EGOT winner.
Yes, Im in a relationship thats one of the most beautiful people Ive ever met in life and shes smart, she loves God, she has something real down to Earth about her. Shes talented, but I set my standard kinda high cause she had to have a EGOT. She had to win an Oscar on her first movie. I set my standards high. She had to get her own talk show,” Common explained.
