Diddy, Nicki Minaj, 50 Cent And More React To Will Smith Slapping Chris Rock At The Oscars

Celebrities, they’re just like us– at least when it comes to engaging with the latest scandal. Less than 24 hours after the 2022 Oscars ended, the trending topics about the annual event aren’t about awards and performances. Instead, the innanet has been gobbling up every clip, from every angle of the moment Will Smith walked on stage and slapped Chris Rock.

The moment came after Chris cracked a joke targeting Jada’s hairstyle, which at this time is bald. Jada previously revealed that she shaved her head after suffering hair loss due to alopecia.

More than a few entertainment industry peers have spoken on the shocking moment. See what they had to say:

Diddy

“You know sh*t happens sometimes,” Diddy said on video. “My ni**a Chris Rock got a chin though..it’s all love.” Prior to this, Diddy had taken the stage at the Oscars and made comments urging reconciliation. He said, “Will and Chris we’re going to solve that like family at the after-party.” On Monday, there was conflicting reports on whether the beef is settled. Page Six reports that a source confirmed Diddy spoke to both Will and Chris, but they haven’t spoken to each other.

Stephen A. Smith

“What Will Smith did tonight was straight bullshit,” Stephen said in a video on Sunday night. “Props and congratulations to him for winning the Oscar cause dammit he deserved it. And I love the brother and I’m proud of him, but boy was that a shameful act for him to commit tonight. To go up on stage and slap Chris Rock like that, he’s lucky he didn’t get his a*s kicked, particularly after the event was over.”

50 Cent

“You have to win Oscars to do this kinda sh*t. After I win I’m gonna slap the sh*t out of a few people. LOL.”

Fabolous

“Chris Rock is a real professional cuz ain’t no way…ain’t no way bruh,” he tweeted.

Drake

Drake didn’t share any words on what occurred, but he shared a photo of Will dressed as the genie in ‘Aladdin.” The facial expression on Will’s face? A smirk.

Nicki Minaj

“I love Chris Rock. I don’t think he would’ve made that joke had he known what Jada recently shared- but between him & the whole team @ the Oscars you mean to tell me not ONE of y’all heard this woman just share this heartbreaking story? #ComeOnSon,” Nicki wrote.

“The husband gets a front row seat to his wife’s pain… he’s the 1 consoling her… drying her tears behind closed doors when those cameras go off,” Nicki wrote. “Social media has made ppl feel that these “husbands” won’t ever run into them in real life.

In additional tweets, she further broke down what Will, though she doesn’t name him, must’ve seen: “her holding back tears from a ‘little joke’ at her expense.”

“Imagine what it must feel like to be losing your hair to the point where you have to shave it bald,” Nicki wrote. “You think that’s easy to deal with for anyone? You don’t think she’s cried about that many times? 2022 y’all gon have to see these men about those jokes you made about their wives.”

Boosie

“That’s why I don’t f*ck r f*ck with peoples WIVES lol  Will tired bro I been feeling bad for him myself these last years “That joke” shouldn’t have been said at the Oscars,” Boosie shared on Twitter. “Feel like he coulda let them slide! make me think they had a lil beef before r somethin.”

Tami Roman

“I’m glad Will apologized BUT I might be the only one who understands  that man is TIRED of y’all disrespecting his wife & talking down on her disguised as jokes,” Tami said. “He is his wife’s protector PERIOD.”

Lil Duval

Comedian Lil Duval has been letting tweets fly about the situation all Monday. At one point, he commented on Chris’ lack of ac reaction. He said “nobody on Earth say that coming not even Will.” He claimed “Will Smith could walk up to anybody and get that slap off.” He later labeled Chris his “OG,” but also said he doesn’t care because “comes with [their] job.”

Lil Kim

Big facts!! Stay focused,” Lil Kim wrote on her Instagram Story along with a clip of Will Smith’s Oscar acceptance speech. “The devil is busy rn! They can’t stand a taste of their own medicine. Karma is a bi**h fr and she ain’t playing wit y’all.”

Offset

Offset made his support for Will’s decision to smack Chris for his offensive joke crystal clear. Apparently, he’s coming the same way behind his wife Cardi B.

“I feel you smack the SH*T out one you ni***s botu my wife on national tv,” he tweeted. He continued in a separate tweet, “Will Smith the greatest to do it.”
