Whew. If theres one thing Sean Diddy Combs gon do, its fight until the last second and baby, that clock is ticking. With his sentencing just around the corner and a possible 11-year prison sentence on the line, the music mogul isnt just calling on his lawyers hes calling on paper.
On October 2, Diddy submitted a personal letter to the judgeone final attempt to sway the scales before that gavel comes down. Diddys letter to the judge? Oh, its very detailed no vague vibes here. Hes spilling receipts on his progress, his sobriety, and taking “full responsibility and accountability” for his past like its the final season of a reality show. No cameras, no entourage, no designer shadesjust Diddy laying it all out on paper, hoping the judge buys what hes selling before sentencing day drops.
“I cant change the past, but I can change the future. I know that God put me here to transform me. Since incarceration, I have gone through a spiritual reset. Im on a journey that will take time and hard work. Im proud to say Im working harder than I ever have before. Im committed to the journey of remaining a drug free, non-violent and peaceful person. I thank God that Im stronger, wiser, clean, clear and sober. God makes no mistakes,” Combs shared in the revealing letter.
As soon as the news dropped, folks ran to The Shade Room comments like it was the group chat. Some are calling Diddys letter a PR move, claiming hes only sorry now that the walls are closing in. Others are preaching grace, saying everyone deserves a second chance but either way, the comment section did not hold back. Lets see what the people had to say
One Instagram user, @lizzytens, commented, “I pray God gives him another chance. Everyone deserves a 2nd chance to do better and be better.“
This Instagram user @lady._jayy added, “You just sorry because everything finally caught up to you“
Instagram user @beautynomakeup shared, “ my ex said that before. He definitely wasnt sorry ”
Meanwhile, Instagram user @kgood1218 joked, “Chat GPS ahh letter”
While Instagram user @iammajorzulu wrote, “More like sorry I got caught. ”
However, Instagram user @zippit9908 added, “Im mad all this happened to him. I really like him and wish he was a better person“
Lastly, Instagram user @__buttakupp said, “So since everyone writing letters I need one of yall to type this 6 page essay I got due next week ”
Whew, the courtroom tea is getting thick and Diddy aint the only one picking up a pen. On Monday, September 22, his legal team submitted a sentencing memorandum to the judge basically a formal plea asking for leniency. But along with Diddys own letter, Yung Miami, Dana Tran, Stevie J, several of his children, and others close to him also submitted character statements in support of the mogul. The memo itself argues that while prosecutors pushed heinous racketeering and trafficking claims, none of those charges stuck.
After an eight-week trial, the jury only convicted him of transporting consenting adults with intent to engage in prostitution and Diddys team says hes already done his time. They claim his 13 months behind bars have been life-changing, that hes sober, in therapy, and working on himself but that continued treatmen can only happen outside prison walls. His mothers declining health was also mentioned, with the note that she doesnt know how much longer shell be around and wants to see her son reunited with family. Now, his legal team is pushing for a sentence of no more than 14 months total, followed by supervised release and continued therapy hoping the judge gives him the chance to start whatever this next chapter looks like.
