Recently DMX submitted a travel request to a New York federal judge after he was placed on house arrest earlier this month. The rapper cited that he needed to travel in order to work so he can support his children.
DMX has now been granted permission to travel but under one condition.
According to the New York Daily News, the rapper, whose real name is Earl Simmons, can travel for his scheduled appearance, but a round-the-clock sober coach must accompany him.
DMX’s lawyer, Murray Richman, said, “We’re ecstatic about the court’s decision giving Mr. Simmons the opportunity to perform and continue his career.”
As previously reported, the rapper had been placed on house arrest after failing a drug test while out on bail while facing tax fraud charges. Now he has to be “accompanied at all times” by a sober coach. The judge approved for him to travel to Georgia from August 21st to August 24th.
DMX must pay for the coach with his own money. The idea to hire a coach was suggested by his lawyer in court, which addressed the worry of him falling off track.
Other places DMX previously requested to travel also included Las Vegas, Philadelphia and Los Angeles.
