Dr. Umar Johnson has sparked reactions after calling out members of his community for “celebrating” the death of Charlie Kirk.

On Wednesday, September 10, Dr. Umar took to his Instagram feed to share a screenshot showing a news article detailing the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk.

Then, on Thursday, September 11, he returned to the platform to share a graphic with a text statement.

“While I did not agree with Mr. Kirk’s rhetoric, and considered him to be an anti-Black bigot, I will never rejoice at the loss of life of anyone who hasn’t directly participated in the unaliving of a member of the Black Afrikan race,” he wrote. “I am ashamed to see members of my community celebrating this situation. I will never ask you to mourn the loss of an enemy of our race, but to celebrate an unaliving is completely unacceptable…”

Before concluding, Dr. Umar noted that the “greatest recipients of political assassinations have been our own people.” Therefore, some people should “stop laughing at the misfortunes of others and get prepared.”

More On The Death Of Charlie Kirk & Subsequent Manhunt

Dr. Umar Johnson’s comments were prompted by the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk, the founder of right-wing advocacy group Turning Point USA. As The Shade Room previously reported, on Wednesday, September 10, Kirk was speaking at a rally at Utah Valley University. While talking to the crowd, Kirk was struck in the neck and succumbed to his injuries.

Then, on Thursday, September 11, the FBI released photos of a “person of interest” apparently connected to the fatal incident, per The Shade Room.

Additionally, the FBI is offering a $100,000 reward in search of the location and the identity of the gunman.
