Model Gigi Hadid was arrested on drug possession charges shortly after touching down in the Cayman Islands last week.

Customs & Border Control agents specifically found a small quantity of marijuana, along with paraphernalia, in Gigi’s luggage. As a result, she was reportedly fined $1,000 and ultimately released from custody.

However, Gigi’s seemingly letting it be known that she is unfazed by the ordeal, prompting input from internet users!

Gigi Was Arrested & Fined $1,000 Over “Marijuana Purchased Legally In N.Y.C.”

According to the Cayman Marl Road, the situation unfolded on Jul. 10. Upon landing at the Owen Roberts International Airport General Aviation Terminal, Gigi disembarked from a private jet and had her luggage screened along with the other passengers.

Authorities ultimately found marijuana and paraphernalia in Gigi’s luggage. Similar materials were found in her friend Leah Nicole McCarthy‘s luggage as well, leading to both parties being arrested.

They were reportedly taken into custody for processing before being released on bail. Two days later, they’re noted as pleading guilty in George Town — the capital of the Cayman Islands — and being fined $1,000.

In response to the news, a representative for Gigi Hadid told PEOPLE that the marijuana was “purchased legally in N.Y.C.” It was also stated that Gigi has a medical card.

“Gigi was traveling with marijuana purchased legally in N.Y.C. with a Medical license. It has also been legal for medical use in Grand Cayman since 2017. Her record remains clear and she enjoyed the rest of her time on the island.”

Gigi Hadid Seems Unbothered On Instagram While Enjoying Her Vacation

In light of this news, we should add that the situation doesn’t appear to have placed a damper on Gigi Hadid’s lil’ Caribbean vaycay.

On Friday (Jul. 14), Gigi shared a photo of herself posing on an outdoor chaise lounge and showing off a temporary dragon tattoo.

That same day, she posted an image of herself straddling a pool noodle, asking viewers, “What designer makes this noodle? Wrong answers only.”

Finally, on Tuesday (Jul. 18) — after the arrest news had broken and been widely circulated — Gigi shared a series of photos from her trip.

She cheekily captioned this upload, “All’s well that ends well.” Oop!

Shortly thereafter, people proceeded to cut up beneath Gigi’s most recent upload. In fact, numerous users called her out while cracking jokey-jokes in her comment section.

Neither Gigi nor her mother, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Yolanda Hadid, have publicly acknowledged the matter at this time.
