A 38-year-old man passed away while preparing for his second hair transplant in late July. Martyn Latchman, from England, had traveled to Turkey to undergo the cosmetic procedure. However, Latchman died before getting on the surgery table in the celebrity hotspot for hair transplants. According to The Guardian, Latchmad was an educator for 16 years, but switched careers to defense contracting in 2024.

More Details About The Failed Hair Transplant Incident
As mentioned, the Milton Keynes resident reportedly became ill as medical professionals were preparing him, per PEOPLE. He was set to undergo surgery at the Dr. Cinik clinic, a hotspot for celebrity clients. The unexpected death happened in late July, and reps from the clinic have since released a statement.
“Before the hair transplant procedure began and during the preparatory phase, the patient unexpectedly became unwell for reasons that are still unknown. Immediate medical intervention was provided, and he was urgently transferred to a fully equipped university hospital.
The clinic also confirmed that the 38-year-old was scheduled for his second procedure after the first one was successful. “…following his satisfaction with the results, he returned for a second procedure,” the spokesperson added. They also said that they followed the same procedures as the first hair transplant and had the supervision of an anesthesiologist.
“Prior to the second operation, all necessary medical evaluations and tests (including blood work, chest X-ray, ECG, etc.) were carried out thoroughly and without omission, just as they were during the first procedure.”
He was cleared for surgery, but for unknown reasons, it went wrong. Additionally, the Dr. Cinik rep said that Martyn Latchman received “ongoing intensive treatment” throughout the day of the incident. However, he died that same evening.

PEOPLE reports that Latchman’s body is back in the United Kingdom. Moreover, health authorities in Turkey are reportedly investigating the situation. Also, The Independent has said that an autopsy will be done to confirm Martyn’s cause of death. At this time, the Dr. Cinik clinic appears to be cooperating with authorities.
“All relevant medical documentation related to this incident has been submitted to the appropriate authorities, and the matter is currently being investigated by judicial bodies,” the clinic said. “Due to the ongoing legal process and out of respect for the family’s privacy, no further details will be disclosed at this time.”
