HU Invites Ukrainian Students To Continue Their Education

Hampton University Invites Ukrainian & Other International Students To Continue Their Education At No Cost During The 2022 Summer Session

The doors will always be open for students in need when it comes to HBCUs! Hampton University is extending an invitation to Ukrainian and international college students studying in the country amid the ongoing war with Russia. According to WTKR, HU President Dr. William R. Harvey welcomes 50 to 100 students to attend the private institution free of charge!

President Harvey released a statement saying, “The collective Hampton University faculty, staff, and students are heartbroken because the war-torn country of Ukraine must deal with atrocities like the bombing of maternity wards, hospitals, and other civilian areas.” He continued, “I think this partnership is something that can be beneficial to a great number of students and families. My entire career has been focused on helping people to achieve and meet their goals.”

Ukrainian and international college students affected by the issues in Russia will be able to attend classes at HU for the 2022 summer session. They will receive room, board, and tuition, as well as the option to stay at HU for the regular tuition and fees following the end of the session.

This isn’t the first time Hampton University has opened its doors to displaced students. Reports show that in 2019, President Harvey reached out to the University of the Bahamas president and offered a similar agreement to students occupying the north campus after it was destroyed in Hurricane Dorian. HU isn’t the only institution in the USA helping students.

Fox 61 reported today that independent day and boarding high school, Woodstock Academy in Connecticut, is helping students. They will allow students to live and study on their campus for the remainder of the school year through summer at no cost. The academy serves grades nine through 12 and post-graduates, including international students. Two students are scheduled to arrive at the academy tomorrow. Roommates, do you think more colleges and universities should open their doors to Ukrainian and international students?
