J.Prince Calls On Kanye West, Drake, Nicki Minaj, & The Weeknd To Boycott The GRAMMYs — Suggest They Perform At The Same Time Of The Live Broadcast

Be the change you want to see! Rap-A-Lot Records’ founder J. Prince is calling on Kanye West, Drake, Nicki Minaj, The Weeknd, and more to come together to boycott the GRAMMYs. In a nearly four-minute video he shared to Instagram, the music legend explained why there needed to be a shift in how Hip-Hop artists are treated. J. Prince wants all the smoke and suggested the artist do an event of their own.

J. Prince added historical context to his video and reflected on how the Recording Academy has treated Hip Hop over the last 30 years while comparing them to the U.S. prison system. “I’ve been watching the Grammys control and dictate our culture to their benefit up close and personal for the past 30 years,” he said. “And all the artists, managers, and executives would do is complain but never have the nuts to come together to do anything about it.”

As the video continued, he recommended that the artists come together in Las Vegas and perform simultaneously as the GRAMMYs on a special network and streaming platform. J says this will prove that ratings will change where the Grammys are concerned when the No. 1 selling genre in music, Hip-Hop. J isn’t playing any games and said there’s power in numbers!

In the caption on Instagram, the Houston native wrote, “HIP HOP VS. THE GRAMMYS: @champagnepapi, @kanyewest, @theweeknd, @nickiminaj. The powers that be will be mad at me about this one but F**K EM! I love the culture! The seed is planted … let’s water it!” Nicki Minaj commented “Respect” on the post, seemingly agreeing with the legend. In the past, Nicki has been vocal about being snubbed by the GRAMMYs.

If you recall, in November 2020, she tweeted how although she had seven simultaneous songs on the Billboard charts, she didn’t win Best New Artist in 2012.

Roommates, drop a comment and let us know if you think the artists should take J. Prince’s advice and boycott the GRAMMYs.
