Jamie Foxx Tears Up While Revealing What Happened During His Medical Emergency In 2023
According to Page Six, Foxx opened up about the emergency in his Netflix Special, ‘Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was…’ The special was reportedly released on Tuesday, December 10.
In a clip circulating on social media, Foxx told the audience that on April 11, 2023, he had a “bad headache.” At the time, he asked one of his friends for an Aspirin. However, before he could take it, he “went out.” In reaction, Foxx’s loved ones took him to a doctor in Georgia. However, the doctor simply gave him a cortisone shot.
Subsequently, his sister, Deidra Dixon, took him to Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. To note, Foxx had reportedly been in the area filming a movie. There, a doctor reportedly informed her that Foxx had experienced a “brain bleed that has led to a stroke.”
“We didn’t find where it was coming from, but he is having a stroke. He may be able to make a full recovery, but it’s going to be the worst year of his life,” the doctor reportedly told Dixon.
Before concluding the story, Foxx added, “That’s what it was, Atlanta. You finally got the story. You saved my life.”

According to PEOPLE, Foxx explained that he “woke up” on May 4, 2023, to find himself in a wheelchair, believing the whole ordeal was a “horrible joke.”

In May, Jamie Foxx took to his Instagram Story to share a brief but encouraging message with fans, per The Shade Room.
Later that month, it was revealed that Foxx had been transported from Atlanta to Chicago and placed in a physical rehab facility, per The Shade Room. Ultimately, Foxx was initially spotted post-rehabilitation in July.
