A Michigan woman made it to South Carolina before the law finally caught up with her. Jordan Love faces multiple charges after stabbing her dog, posting the injured animal to social media, and then abandoning it and other pets.
Details About Dog Stabbing Incident
The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office released a statement regarding the stabbing on April 10. However, the incident seemingly occurred on February 7. After attacking her dog, Jordan Love then uploaded a video of the injured pet on social media at around 1:30 a.m. that same day. It’s unclear which platform she shared the NSFW content on or what the video showed.
Hours later, at around 2 p.m., Detroit Animal Control (DAC) dispatched workers to Jordan Love’s home. Someone had tipped off the agency about the stabbing, but it’s unclear if that happened due to the social media post. Once on the scene, DAC officers used forced entry to access the home and eventually found the injured animal in the basement.
The dog was not dead but had multiple stab wounds in its torso. After securing the harmed pet, DAC officers seized two additional dogs and four cats from Jordan Love’s home.
When Was Jordan Love Arrested & What Happens Next?
Sometime after the stabbing and before DAC arrived at her house, Jordan had fled the home and, ultimately, the state. It took more than a month for authorities to locate her. On March 20, law enforcement in Greenville, South Carolina, took her into custody and began the extradition process. Love arrived in Michigan on April 9 after detectives from the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office escorted her back to the state.
As mentioned, Jordan Love is facing charges from Prosecutor Kym Worthy. According to the press statement, her charges include killing/torturing animals in the second degree and abandoning/cruelty to four to ten animals. The first charge has a maximum penalty of seven years, while the second one has a maximum of two years.
Prosecutor Kym Worthy assured the public that they’re taking the dog stabbing and any similar incidents seriously. She said:
“The WCPO has always taken the abuse of animals very seriously. We have impacted legislation and have been proactive with the applicable laws – seeking and fighting to change them in many instances. Although we never really anticipated the alleged brutally and cruelty that this case represents, as a result of our earlier efforts, this case is a clear representation of why better laws were needed.”
As for Jordan Love, she was arraigned in Michigan at the 36th District Court by Magistrate William Burton. Given her history of fleeing the state, she was granted a $50,000 cash or surety bond with GPS monitoring. It’s unclear if Love posted bail because a bond re-determination hearing with Judge McConico was scheduled for Monday (April 14). The results of the hearing are unknown at this time.
However, Jordan has additional court hearings before Judge Marlena Taylor on April 21 and 28. The prosecutor’s office statement said the hearing on the 21st is to determine probable cause, while the hearing on the 28th is for “preliminary examination.”
Woman Arrested For Killing Dog At Airport
More than a month after Jordan Love harmed her pet, another woman was arrested for a fatal attack on her dog. It’s an unrelated incident that occurred on December 16, 2024, at the Orlando International Airport. Airline officials told Alison Agatha Lawrence, 57, that she could not board the flight with her dog due to a lack of related paperwork. In response, Alison took the pet to a woman’s bathroom and allegedly drowned the dog. By the time an airport employee found the deceased animal, Alison had already casually boarded her flight. An investigation led to her arrest on March 18 in Clermont, Florida.
