Kandi Burruss is looking good and feeling great after reaching some weight loss goals. Earlier this year, she opened up about her experience with the supplement Ozempic, and revealed her plan to follow a workout plan customized by a trainer. Most recently, she opened up about what else contributed to her losing more than 30 pounds in the last five months: Hydroxycut.
Kandi Burruss Confirms She Tried Other Weight Loss Supplements
As mentioned, in June, Kandi talked to Page Six about how Ozempic didn’t help curb her appetite as she had expected. Instead, she said she had gained more weight than before in between summer 2023 and June 2024. “The sad thing about it is when you see [Ozempic] work for other people, and it doesn’t work for you, it makes you depressed,” Kandi previously said.
Well, it looks like Kandi didn’t let a failed attempt with the celeb-crazed weight loss supplement stop her. In a recent Essence exclusive, Burruss said she’s “feeling [herself] right now” after the last few years of her weight being up and down.
“I’ve been trying to lose weight, to be honest, for the last year and a half. I had a goal in mind of where I wanted to get to, and I just kept getting further and further away from it,” the former ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ star.
After the ‘RHOA’ cameras stopped filming the singer earlier this year, she said her weight shot up again. Headed on her ‘Queens of R&B’ tour and frustrated, Kandi Burruss took the advice of a friend who recommended she try Hydroxycut.
Keep in mind it wasn’t her first time trying it, but she admitted that it had been a while. After she improved her workout schedule and eating habits and used the supplements’ family products, Kandi said the weight came off quickly. This month, Kandi confirmed to the outlet that she’s lost 31 pounds total since May. She’s now back in the 130-pound range. This is the first time Kandi B. has been in that range since first appearing on ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ during season two.
“If you can just imagine for me, this has been a life-changing experience. I never knew I needed it as much as I did until I did it,” she said, adding that she was falling into the mindset that all women gain a few pounds with age.
Note that this isn’t the first time Kandi has opened up about using the weight loss supplement. Like a true businesswoman, Kandi first unveiled her results in an ad on Oct. 9 with the supplement’s company.
More Details About Singer’s Hydroxycut Experience
Sharing specifics with Essence, Kandi said she felt “super motivated” to make the weight loss product work in her favor. She aimed to stick to taking Hydroxycut twice a day and cut foods like desserts and sodas out. Burruss recalled a period on tour when critics talked about her and other fellow singers looking like bursting biscuit cans in their outfits.
“I was tired of being thick. I literally saw somebody post something negative about our outfits. They were like, ‘Why do they always look stuffed?’ I said, ‘Oh no! You are not going to tell me I look stuffed in an outfit ever again,” she told Essence.
So, what does her new and improved habits look like? Kandi says she avoids big breakfasts and snacks on almonds, eats vegetables and meats, and replaces sugary drinks with water. She’s also taken Hydroxycut’s Ultra Shed drink sticks.
With the holidays around the corner, she’s hoping to keep sticking to her diet. “…Next summer gotta see this body,” Kandi said. As of this month’s conversation with Essence, Burrus said she was still taking Hydroxycut while trying to figure out the flow of maintaining her new size.
