Kanye West is clearing the air about why he’s now neighbors with estranged wife Kim Kardashian! The artist recently detailed his reasons for buying the nearby home to Hollywood Unlocked‘s Jason Lee in an interview preview clip.
Reports from December 2021 say Kanye purchased a 3,651 square-foot, 5-bedroom home for $4.5 million. Ye reportedly dropped $421,000 extra to be right across the street from the home he once shared with Kim and their little ones. As previously reported, Kim became the sole owner of their Hidden Hills home in October 2021 when Kanye signed over his rights for $20 million.
For The Kids
While speaking with Jason, Kanye made it clear that his children North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm bring him comfort.
“My solace comes from seeing my kids and getting a solid schedule. That’s why I even got the house,” Kanye said.
He added that the story was “flipped into there was something wrong with me getting a house next to my kids.”
Kanye continued speaking about the importance of being near his four children. He recalled moving to Chicago from Atlanta as a child and leaving his father behind.
“You see when my mom took me from Atlanta to Chicago, my dad didn’t come to the coldest and most dangerous city in the world to be next to me,” Kanye said. “He said, ‘I’m going to stay down in Atlanta cause of my career.”
The superstar musician, entrepreneur and creative first became a father to North West a little over eight years ago on June 15, 2013. North was the first of four children that Kanye and Kim Kardashian would have together over the years. Unlike his father, Kanye has plans to remain accessible to his children no matter what.
“It’s nothing with my career, with this rap, with this media, with none of that, that’s gonna keep me from my children. And that’s what I want everybody to know,” Kanye said.
A Marriage Ends While Romance Blooms
Despite the beautiful family they’ve created, Kanye and Kim’s marriage is running full-speed towards the end of its course. After about six years of KimYe, Kim filed for divorce in February 2021. In response, Kanye reportedly filed his own documents in April asking for legal and physical joint custody of their children.
But, in the last few weeks, both Kanye and Kim have been dipping their toes in the dating pool. Kim has been linked to comedian and actor Pete Davidson. Paparazzi captured the rumored baes on intimate dates, returning from vacation, holding hands and even embracing. While neither party has confirmed a romance, they’ve done little to deny or hide their hangouts.
Meanwhile, paparazzi also captured Kanye spending time with actress Julia Fox in the last two weeks. The pair met on New Year’s Eve and later enjoyed a dinner in Miami. Afterwards, Kanye reportedly arranged a date in New York that included a play, dinner and a surprise photoshoot with a hotel suite full of gifted clothes.
Julia described their second date to Interview Magazine saying, “It was every girl’s dream come true. It felt like a real Cinderella moment. I don’t know how he did it, or how he got all of it there in time. But I was so surprised. Like, who does things like this on a second date? Or any date! Everything with us has been so organic.”
Dating life aside, Kanye wants folks to know when it comes to his children, please keep the games!
“Don’t play with me, don’t play with my children. Ain’t no security gonna get in between me and my children and you ain’t gonna gaslight me,” Ye said.
