Larsa Pippen is standing by her decision to don box braids on a Bahamas trip that was featured on The Real Housewives of Miami, and her reasoning is simple: she’s “not white!”

The matter was brought up during Part 3 of the RHOM Season 5 Reunion which aired Thursday, as Andy Cohen read out a viewer question that tackled the subject head-on.
“Watching the tease for the season, I noticed you were sporting braids in the Bahamas. Fashion-wise, you can pull it off. But do you think it’s really culturally appropriate? I think you’re going to get a lot of backlash.”

In response, Larsa declared, “I don’t think [I’m getting backlash] to be honest with you.”
She went on to share, “I mean, I’m not white, so I don’t know—my mom used to wear braids.”
Larsa followed this defense up by sharing that her kids, who are biracial, have a braider do their hair “every ten days.”
The reality star added, “If I’m going on a trip, I don’t want to have to deal with my hair, [so] I’ll have her braid my hair.”
Andy then asked costar Kiki Barth what she thinks about the subject. In response, she shared that she thinks people “should just embrace” Larsa’s decision to rock box braids.
“I feel like anybody should rock whatever they want to. As long as it looks good on you, I think we should just embrace it.”

Larsa Previously Defended The Braids By Saying Her ‘Grandparents Are Moroccan’
We have to also add that Larsa defended her decision to wear the braids in a confessional that aired during the Bahamas trip.
After being asked to elaborate on her hairstyle decision, Larsa pointed out that her “grandparents are Moroccan.” The influencer added she’s “always worn braids” when she goes on vacation.
“My grandparents are Moroccan. My mom had braids when she was a kid. I’ve been braiding my hair every time I’ve gone on vacation since I can remember. My honeymoon pictures, my hair was braided. When I was 18 years old, my hair was braided. I’ve always worn braids when I travel.”
Jen Shah Also Donned Box Braids On RHOSLC
While speaking on the subject, we should note that Larsa Pippen isn’t the only non-Black Housewife who recently opted to don box braids.
Specifically, recently-incarcerated The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Jen Shah was wearing box braids when she was arrested just before a Season 2 cast trip to Vail, Colorado.
