LeBron James recently praised his eldest son, Bronny, for his athletic perseverance!

The father of three took to Instagram on Sunday (Dec. 10) following the University of Southern California Trojans and Long Beach State 49ers game. The basketball competition marked the first time Bronny has played with his USC team since suffering a cardiac arrest months ago.

Both college teams were giving it their all on the court as the scores were neck-and-neck for the majority of the game and going into overtime. Eventually, the 49ers claimed the victory with a final score of. 84-79.

According to The Athletic, the crowd “held its breath” when Bronny took his first shot in the game, which he missed. They also reacted with cheers to his guarding skills. His first bucket ended up being a three-pointer.

Following the close loss, James Jr. spoke with the media about hitting the court.

“I just want to say I’m thankful for everything,” Bronny said, per The Athletic. “The Mayo Clinic, for everything they helped me with. Parents, siblings for supporting me through this hard time in my life. I just want to give appreciation for helping me through this. Also, my coach, my teammates, my other coaches who have been with me since the start.”

The 19-year-old had restricted playing time due to his recovering health. Still, coach Andy Enfield gave James Jr. props saying he “played well.”

“He defended at a high level. He rebounded. He had two steals, two assists, made a 3, so I thought he was very solid,” Enfield said.

Doctors reportedly cleared James Jr. to play on Nov. 30 — five months after his cardiac arrest. His coach says it will take time for the athlete to get back into shape and find his rhythm. He’s steadily been increasing his cardio, individual drills, and weight lifting, per the coach.
