 Brian McKnight has continued his “fatherhood” talk series, as Julie McKnight has seemingly reacted to him claiming he won a $8 million judgment against her.

Brian McKnight Continues Fatherhood Talk Series After Claiming He Won $8M Judgment Against Julie McKnight On Late Son’s Birthday

Over the weekend, Brian McKnight returned to Instagram to share another video post with his more than 500,000 followers. Furthermore, the clip began with Brian welcoming his viewers to “fatherhood fridays,” a talk series he initially launched on Instagram in September 2024.

“One of the greatest things about being a father is being able to fulfill the dreams of your father and bring the whole family while we fulfill those dreams,” he told viewers. “One of father’s dreams was to come up in a hot air balloon. So we’re in Morocco and, wallah! Hot air balloon with the whole family.”

When McKnight panned the camera, viewers could see other individuals sitting alongside him. Additionally, the clip showed aerial shots of the family’s excusion.

She Seemingly Reacts To His Claims

Then, during the early hours of Monday, October 20, Brian’s ex-wife Julie McKnight, took to her Instagram Story to seemingly react to him recently alleging he won a $8 million judgment against her. Furthermore, Julie simply shared a screenshot of their case file, circling that the status of their case stands as “pending.”

More Details On Brian McKnight Claiming He Won $8M Judgment Against Julie McKnight On Late Son Niko’s Birthday (LAWSUIT DETAILS INCLUDED)

As The Shade Room previously reported, on Thursday, October 16, Brian took to Instagram to share footage with his fans alleging he won an $8.8 million judgment against Julie. To note, the date also marked the first heavenly birthday of their late son, Niko. Niko passed away in May after a battle with cancer.

“We’ve been quiet — listening to liars continue to lie and keeping to ourselves, living and loving our life as we said, leaving everything in God’s hands [and] letting our lawyer do the talking. But according to the courts, trying to ruin my name and trying to bring harm to my family with a book filled with lies equals $8.8 million,” he told viewers.

Additionally, the footage played a voicemail from Julie, instructing him not to contact their son Niko. As the audio played, Brian was seen skipping in the background. To note, Julie did not immediately react to her ex-husband’s claims. Instead, she reserved October 16 for celebrating their late son.

On Monday, October 20, The Shade Room was able to verify Brian McKnight’s case against Julie McKnight. The civil summons against Julie was initially filed on May 8, 2025. The accompanying lawsuit alleges Julie’s February-released novel ‘Mama Bear: Beautifully Blended,’ and “numerous interviews” have committed “defamation, slander, libel” against Brian.

The lawsuit notes that although Brian was never mentioned by name, “it is clear to third parties” that Julie’s “false statements… were about Mr. McKnight.” Per the lawsuit, Julie falsely alleged that Brian was responsible for their children’s lack of success in the music industry  and that he emotionally abused her and neglected their children during their marriage. In sum, the suit states that Julie’s alleged claims have hurt Brian’s reputation and career. Therefore, he is seeking a a trial by jury, “compensatory damages” of at least $25,000, paid for attorney’s fees.

But Has Brian McKnight Really Won An $8M Judgment Against Julie McKnight?

On July 17, 2025, a court motion was filed asserting that Julie was served with the summons on May 9, 2025. However, she allegedly failed to “plead to the complaint.” Then, on August 5, Brian’s counsel asserted that Julie had “totally failed or refused to answer” the complaint. Therefore, Brian, the plaintiff, is entitled to a “Default judgment.”

However, on October 6, the court filed a motion asserting that the case “requires a response from all parties.” Therefore, if all parties and their counsel do not respond by October 27, a trial date will be set by the court.

Therefore, as of this time, it appears that Brian McKnight and Julie McKnight’s legal case indeed remains pending.

Brian McKnight Jr. Has Reacted To His Father's Antics

As the next step in Brian McKnight and Julie McKnight’s legal battle awaits to be seen, their eldest son, Brian McKnight Jr., has voiced on his dad celebrating his alleged legal victory on his late brother’s birthday. Last week, Brian Jr. took to his Instagram Story to share that he’s been trying to be “mature” about what’s going on with his dad.

“[But] if y’all aren’t seeing what’s happening. If y’all aren’t seeing the fact that this is a very hurt, and a very emotionally unavailable and not-intelligent person that has still not being able to handle the death of his own mother… to decide to make certain posts on my late brother’s birthday?” he said in part.

Ultimately, Brian Jr. went on by explaining why the “gloves are off.”
