Coi Leray Blasts Latto For 'Put It On Da Floor' Mention In Lyrics

Coi Leray is not feeling the way Latto name-dropped her in a new single titled Put It On Da Floor. Released on April 21, Latto raps, “smoking on that gas, blunt big as Coi Leray.” Shortly after its release, Coi accused the Clay Co. rapper of body-shaming her and wanting to have “rap beef.”

“Latto bye [sleeping emoticon] here you go [talking] about my body,” Coi tweeted. “Please do not come on here and talk about nobody BODY. Lol like seriously . Out of all things . Lmaooo ya blunt my size ? Lmaooo this sh*t is never ending.”

Minutes before the direct call out, Coi also tweeted, “Let’s fight,” but it’s unclear if that was directed at Latto.

Latto name-drops Coi in the first line of the second verse, about halfway through the three-minute song.

She raps:

“Smokin’ on that gas, blunt big as Coi Leray/ B*****s like to run their mouths but I’m the type to run the face/ When your diamonds hit like this, you don’t ever see the shade.”

While it seems like Leray interpreted the lyrics as clowning her more petite figure, Latto has yet to respond to Coi’s feelings about the mention.

Instead, hours after Leray’s tweets, the Big Energy rapper posted a screenshot of her name and Put It On Da Floor trending on Twitter.

We’ll get into online reactions later, but some listeners agree that the name-dropping was Latto’s attempt at giving Leray flowers. Rather than smoking a ‘small’ or ‘skinny’ blunt as Coi presumes, fans think Latto meant she’s smoking a blunt “as big” as Coi’s impact.

Daughter to rapper-turned-reality TV star Benzino, Leray blew up amid the pandemic when she released No More Parties. The rap bop highlights her struggles with depression and the pressures of fame. The record went platinum within a few months following the remix with Lil Durk.

Since then, she’s received nominations in the 2021 BET and American Music Awards and the 2022 iHeart Radio Music Awards. Her subsequent music, including Twinnem and Fly Sh*t, has often propelled viral TikTok content. Leray was also featured in the XXL 2021 Freshman Class.

Still, conversations about the rapper’s subtle curves have plagued much of her rise to fame. On April 10, she announced she’s addressing the years-long body-shaming in a forthcoming track.

“Everybody wants to talk about my body, so I made a song about my body. Y’all h*ez not ready,” Leray wrote.

Coi Leray Seemingly Suggests Latto Wants 'To Have Rap Beef So Bad'

Though we won’t know Latto’s true intention with the bar if and until she clarifies that didn’t stop Coi from going in! In addition to body-shaming, Leray also accused her industry peer of wanting to have rap beef.

“These b*****s wanna be like the n****s so bad. Y’ll wanna have rap beef SOOOOOO BADDDDDDDDDDDD [laughing emojis],” Leray tweeted.

This jab comes months after Latto, and Nicki Minaj exchanged viral insults. The online tussle came after the Super Freaky Girl rapper mentioned Latto’s Big Energy while critiquing the Grammys in October.

Coi followed up with a few more tweets about herself and her body perception, calling herself “little miss pressure.”

“Anybody that talk about my body wants MY BODY!!!!!! Like real baddddd,” Coi wrote.

Amid her reaction to Latto, Leray also promoted her recently released remix of Raye’s Flip A Switch.

Ending her rant against the Big Energy rapper, Coi asked that her name not be mentioned in spaces where she’s disliked.

“If you don’t like me , support me or fwm don’t mention my name. Period. Sh*t don’t make sense. I don’t know none of you b*****s in real life. Stay in y’all lane and leave me outta the bullsh*t. I be minding my business and showing real love offline.”
