DJ Envy is sharing his early reaction to being told he would work with Charlamagne tha God on ‘The Breakfast Club.’ The 45-year-old transparently admitted that he was reluctant to work with Charlamagne due to how many times he had been fired from his previous radio jobs.

DJ Envy & Charlamagne Tha God Recently Appeared On 'Million Dollaz Worth Of Game'
DJ Envy and Charlamagne tha God appeared as recent guests on the podcast ‘Million Dollaz Worth Of Game.’
During the sitdown, DJ Envy candidly shared why he was initially reluctant to work alongside Charlamagne tha God on their Power 105.1 radio show ‘The Breakfast Club.’
“And I remember even when they brought Charlamagne in, I didn’t want to work with him. I’m like, ‘This n***a got fired six times…”
Charlamagne tha God then chimed in with a different number.
“Four.”
DJ Envy responded.
“Whatever it was… But I’m like, ‘You want me to work with this n***a?’…”
Envy explained that at the time he had two children depending on him, so the move seemed to be “unstable.”
“At the time, I had two kids — I’m like, ‘no!'”

One of the hosts, Gille Da Kid, went on to refer to Charlamagne as the “king of not being stable.” To which the entire group laughed.
Charlamagne then went on to explain that prior to joining Power 105.1’s ‘The Breakfast Club’ he was fired from his radio job in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

DJ Envy & Charlamagne Joining Forces On 'The Breakfast Club' Proved To Be A Good Move
Despite DJ Envy’s initial hesitancy to co-host ‘The Breakfast Club’ alongside Charlamagne tha God, the move proved to be a great one.
Although the radio show lost one of its co-hosts, Angela Yee, who moved on to launch her own solo radio show in February 2023; it has remained successful.
According to HipHopDX, the radio show’s parent company iHeartRadio recently secured a partnership deal with BET and VH1 to air the show on their networks.
Charlamagne tha God shared a statement in response to the news, as reported by the outlet.
“BET has been the home of so many cultural institutions, like Rap City and 106 & Park, that have shaped a generation.
Those shows laid the foundation for The Breakfast Club to stand on and grow into the cultural institution that we have become. We look forward to carrying on the tradition.”
