A New Jersey community was rocked last year after learning about the sexual abuse a teacher subjected her student to. Laura Caron taught fifth grade at Middle Township School District for over 10 years, mostly at its elementary school. An investigation in 2024 uncovered that she began a sexual relationship with the child when he was 11. She ultimately became pregnant and gave birth when she was around 27 or 28 and the boy was 13. Law enforcement arrested her in January 2025 and indicted her months later in June. Fast forward to 2026. She has now pleaded guilty in the case and is expected to serve time in prison.

Laura Caron Pleads Guilty To Child Endangerment
Caron, according to Court TV, entered a plea agreement with prosecutors last week Wednesday (October 29).
The 36-year-old pleaded guilty to second-degree endangering the welfare of a child with sexual conduct. She was initially charged with aggravated sexual assault and sexual assault as well.
Her plea deal means a five-year sentence in state prison. Sentencing, however, won’t happen until January 8, 2027. Additionally, she must surrender her teaching license and can never work a public job again, prosecutors reportedly confirmed last week. Moreover, she must register as a sex offender and be under parole supervision for life following her release.
Before sentencing, the former teacher must next be evaluated by staff at the Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center, per Court TV. Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland explained last week that Caron could impact her recommended term if prison officials find her to be a repeat or compulsive offender.
She Sexually Abused Him Under The Guise Of Caretaker
According to previously reported details, the child and his sibling were both residing with Laura Caron when the sexual abuse began. It’s unclear why the children’s parents allowed the living arrangement. At first, Caron was only babysitting the kids, allowing sleepovers once or twice a week. Both kids were former students of the New Jersey teacher. An affidavit confirmed that Laura birthed a child on April 5, 2019. It’s unclear where the child is now, but the victim said last year he’s not allowed contact until the case is over.
In December 2024, the child’s grandfather posted a photo on Facebook comparing the child’s looks. That post was sent to the Middle Township Superintendent David Salvo as a tip and he followed up with police.
Victim Defends Former Teacher
Despite the illegal acts, controversial optics, and moral questionability, the male victim in the case stepped forward to defend Laura Caron last year. Following her arrest, the then-19-year-old told The Daily Mail that she never forced him into anything. Also, he demanded that prosecutors drop the charges.
“‘They need to drop all charges. I wasn’t groomed or raped or manipulated by her. She never initiated anything,” the victim said, claiming he initiated the inappropriate contact.
His sister, however, alleged that Laura Caron manipulated her family. According to Yahoo! News, the sister told investigators that her brother admitted via text to being the dad of Caron’s child. Despite being asked not to tell anyone, she provided the text to the police.teach
