Taylor Swift Announces Ice Spice Collab After Rumored Boyfriend’s Involvement In Racist Commentary About Rapper

Taylor Swift recently got social media buzzin’ after revealing that she’ll feature Ice Spice on a “Karma” remix.
The project is set to drop on Friday. In her announcement, she warmly called Ice Spice “THE ONE to watch” while proclaiming, “I’m a massive fan of this brilliant artist.”
However, given how Swift’s rumored boyfriend—Matty Healy, a 34-year-old who sings for The 1975—was involved in distasteful remarks about Ice Spice earlier this year, some are side-eying the project.

Matty Healy Laughed At Ice Spice Being Called An "Inuit Spice Girl" & "Chubby Chinese Lady"
The scandal unfolded while Matty appeared on The Adam Friedland Show in February.
During his sit-down, Matty brought up Ice Spice and asked Adam if he was familiar with her. In turn, Adam called her an “Inuit Spice Girl” and a “Chubby Chinese Lady,” which humored Matty.
Then, the two men proceeded to mock Inuit, Chinese, and Hawaiian accents.

Matty Apologized After Ice Spice & Taylor Swift Embraced At The iHeartRadio Music Awards
As this commentary came in February, it’s important to note that Ice and Taylor were photographed together at the iHeartRadio Music Awards in late March.
While Taylor was still dating Joe Alwyn at this time, it nonetheless shows that Taylor and Ice appeared to be taking an interest in each other.

A month later, Billboard reported that Matty had apologized for his comments while cradling a half-drunk bottle of wine during a New Zealand performance.
After proclaiming he felt “a bit bad” and was “kind of a bit sorry,” he said he didn’t want Ice Spice to think he was “a d**k.”
“Ice Spice, I’m sorry. It’s not because I’m annoyed that me joking got misconstrued. It’s because I don’t want Ice Spice to think I’m a d**k. I love you, Ice Spice. I’m so sorry. I don’t want it to be misconstrued as mean. I don’t mind being a bit of a joker… but I am genuinely sorry if I’ve upset them because I f**king love them.”
Shortly after this apology, rumors about a potential romance between Matty and a newly single Taylor began to take off.

Fans Slam The "Calculated" Collab As "Damage Control"
Given how news of Taylor’s project with Ice Spice comes just a few weeks after she started kickin’ it with Matty, fans are giving the entire collab the side-eye.
Check out what some fans had to say down below.

taylor announced the ice spice featuring a few hours ago and thousands of people criticized her and basically ate her ass in the qrts and her response was to make sure matty was seen leaving the studio after her. this is clearly to clean up his image and i don't understand why https://t.co/kzBpfkRtLL pic.twitter.com/SWtmQt75gZ

Taylor Swift failing to address the racist comments Matt Healy made towards Ice Spice and then finding a way to profit off of her with a new collab is a text book example of white woman feminism. It’s convenient, manipulative and continues to shield and protect white men https://t.co/qZuTOmUm7e
