A Popeyes manager in Louisiana has reportedly been arrested and charged for assaulting customer Shena Decuir with hot chicken.

More Details On The Popeyes Manager Allegedly Assaulting Customer Shena Decuir With Hot Chicken
According to KLFY.com, the incident occurred on an unspecified date when Decuir returned to the drive-thru of a Johnson Street Popeyes location to “address an error in her order.” To note, Decuir placed the order using the restaurant’s mobile ordering app. Then, when she returned to the location, she was reportedly confronted by a male manager, who allegedly “threw the hot chicken at her.”
Per the outlet, the manager was irritated over the ordeal occurring near closing time. Additionally, according to Decuir, the manager “demanded the chicken back.” In addition, they allegedly refused to provide Decuir with a refund receipt.
Ultimately, the incident reportedly resulted in Decuir sustaining first-degree burns on her neck, chest, arms, legs, and feet.
“I was assaulted. I was belittled. I mean, it was a horrible experience, and no one should have to go through that,” Decuir reportedly told the press. “He wanted to pull me up for 25 minutes to drop the chicken. I’ve already waited over half an hour for [the] order that’s not right. So that’s whenever I asked for at least a refund, and it wasn’t good. From there, he took the chicken. He was like, ‘Well, give me the chicken,’ and I was like, ‘Well, can I have the receipt?’ Because I will be back for my money and to complain, and I don’t think he liked that I said that.”
More Details On The Arrest & Charges Against The Manager
Per the outlet, Decuir immediately contacted the police, who called EMT to the scene. To note, Decuir is reportedly disabled and recovering from a severe accident.
“I’m glad it happened on camera because it’s him being a manager and knowing they have cameras, and you still did that. What would happen if there wouldn’t have been cameras? And I’m helpless. I was by myself. It’s unacceptable,” she reportedly added.
According to KLFY.com, the Popeyes manager was arrested and charged with simple battery. Since then, a job posting seeking a new manager for the location has reportedly been shared. Furthermore, Decuir is reportedly pursuing legal action. Meanwhile, the Popeyes location has reportedly stated that it will not be releasing a statement in regards to the incident.

The incident at the Popeyes location in Louisiana is not the only one that has made headlines. As The Shade Room previously reported, in August 2023, a location in southwest Atlanta made headlines when a woman filed a lawsuit against an establishment. In the suit, she reportedly alleged that in September 2022, she received an incorrect food order while waiting at a drive-thru. Furthermore, when she asked Popeyes staff to make corrections, they reportedly became agitated, exited the restaurant, and instructed the woman to move her car to keep the line moving.
However, things ultimately escalated when one of the employees entered the woman’s car and assaulted her as others joined in. Ultimately, the woman alleged the incident left her partially bald.
