Michelle Obama might be all class and queen energy now, but on the latest ‘All The Smoke’ podcast episode with Matt Barnes, she kept it 100 about a real South Side moment that showed even a future First Lady had to throw hands and handle the shade growing up.

Michelle Obama Said “Try Me!”
Before she was First Lady, Michelle Obama was holding her own on the South Side of Chicago — and now she’s spilling all the tea on the ‘All The Smoke’ podcast with Matt Barnes. Michelle opened up about her childhood, saying she was more of a lone wolf compared to her brother, Craig, enjoying her own company until her mom nudged her to get outside and play. That’s when she met DeeDee, a girl who didn’t exactly play nice — teasing Michelle for sounding “like a white girl” and picking on her relentlessly.
But Michelle wasn’t about to just take the disrespect. After putting up with the bullying for a bit, she realized she had to stand her ground, saying she finally “punched her in the face” to shut it down. That moment was a turning point for young Michelle — proving early on she wasn’t afraid to protect herself and keep it 100, even if it meant throwing hands.
Michelle’s South Side Clapback Hits Different
Social media went wild when Michelle’s story dropped on the ‘All The Smoke’ Instagram page. Folks ran to the comments and were joking that DeeDee must be out there bragging about getting punched by the future First Lady herself.
