Details On Corey Walker’s Guilty Plea For Pop Smoke’s Tragic Murder

According to Rolling Stone, Corey Walker faces a potential 29-year prison sentence at his upcoming hearing on Feb. 21. Whatever it turns out to be, the sentence includes two years each for the manslaughter and robbery charges, which will run at the same time.

On Wednesday, Feb. 5, prosecutors added a voluntary manslaughter charge, citing aggravating factors like premeditation and “high degree of cruelty, viciousness, and callousness.” Walker also admitted to robbing a woman at the home during the incident.

Prosecutors initially charged Walker with murder, two robbery counts, and burglary. If convicted, he could have ended up with a life sentence without parole. When authorities arrested Walker in July 2020, they warned that he could face the death penalty since Pop Smoke’s fatal shooting occurred during an alleged robbery.

Pop Smoke’s Mother Audrey Jackson Weighs In On Corey Walker’s Conviction

Soon after news broke about Corey Walker’s voluntary manslaughter conviction, Pop Smoke’s mother, Audrey Jackson, shared her reaction with reporter Nancy Dillon. Dillon shared Jackson’s statement on X (formerly Twitter). Audrey said that she doesn’t plan to attend Walker’s sentencing on Feb. 21, as she continues to grieve the loss of her beloved son.

“It’s over for everybody except for me. This never ends for me. And that’s unfair. I appreciate they got justice to the fullest extent of the law. But my life doesn’t change. I still don’t have my son,” Audrey Jackson told Nancy Dillon.

She doesn't plan to attend Feb. 21 sentencing. She has a gala that night to celebrate her son's life:

“I have not been holding animosity. I’ve just been getting through this. There’s just nothing to say [at Corey Walker’s sentencing]. Everybody’s life has been ruined”

Pop Smoke’s death shattered many fans’ hearts.
