Rich Homie Quan‘s father, Corey Lamer, and his family have shared more information about the late rapper’s memorial arrangements.

Rich Homie Quan’s Family Shares Official Statement
On Monday, September 9, PEOPLE released an exclusive statement shared by the rapper’s family.
“On Thursday, September 5, 2024, the Lamar family lost our beloved son, brother, father and friend. Known to the world as Rich Homie Quan, Dequantes Devontay Lamar was a proud native of the great city of Atlanta, Georgia, and represented for the A as he and his music traveled across this globe,” the statement read.
As the family’s message continued, they explained that the rapper’s passing leaves an “undeniable hole” in their hearts. However, they are “comforted by knowing his music and triumphant spirit lives on…”

Before concluding their statement, the family briefly spoke about the rapper’s upcoming “celebration of life.”
“Quan’s legacy will forever be cemented as a soundtrack to our lives And for this, we are grateful,” the statement continued. “Celebration of life details will be shared soon. Thank you to everyone for your kind words and support at this difficult time.”
The Rapper’s Father Reveals More About His Upcoming Memorial Service
On Wednesday, September 10, Fox 5 Atlanta reported that Quan’s father, Corey Lamar, “called into Yung Joc’s Streetz Morning Takeover Radio show.”
During the call, Lamar reportedly explained that he initially wanted Quan’s celebration of life to be a private event so that he and his family could “start the healing process.” However, he ultimately changed his mind.
“Without the fans, there would be no Quan,” Lamar explained. “And I know it would be a disservice to not allow the people that he touched to be able to come to the funeral… to pay their respects to my son. That’s why I said, I want it to be a grand occassion.”
Lamar ultimately explained that the family plans to make Quan’s service open to the public.
“I want it to be bigger than life, I want people to see the impact that Quan had,” Lamar added before explaining that he’ll be sharing more details about his son’s service “at a later date.”
More Details On Quan’s Passing
As The Shade Room previously reported, Quan passed away after being found unresponsive in his Atlanta home on Thursday, September 5. The following day, Quan’s father broke his silence about his son’s death and shared a heartbreaking message.

On Saturday, September 7, Quan’s girlfriend and mother of his youngest children, Amber Williams, broke her silence on his “traumatiz[ing]” passing, per The Shade Room. To note, Williams reportedly found Quan unconscious on the morning of September 5.
Most recently, the Atlanta Police Department released an incident report breaking down the moments before officers received the call requesting assistance for Quan.
