The date for Rihanna’s fifth annual Diamond Ball is quickly approaching, and while we cannot wait to see some of our favorite celebs show up and show out on the carpet. This year’s event will be honoring some prominent names that put on for their communities in many ways.
According to Variety, activist Shaun King and Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley are set to be honored with this year’s Diamond Ball.
Rihanna expressed her excitement and said, “I am particularly honored to present Prime Minister Mottley and Shaun King with this year’s Diamond Ball Awards for their groundbreaking work. We are so thankful to them for joining us and making the night better than ever.”
It was previously announced that Seth Myers will be serving as the host for this year’s ball, and guests will be able to enjoy performances from Pharrell and DJ Khaled.
Last year, Issa Rae hosted the ball while Kendrick Lamar and Childish Gambino hit the stage.
For those who may not know, the Diamond Ball helps to benefit Rihanna’s organization, Clara Lionel Foundation, which aims to fund education and emergency response programs throughout the globe.
Many of you are more than likely familiar with Shaun King through his social networking platforms. He is known for using his platform to bring light to all of the injustice situations that occur around the world.
Mia Mottley is the first-ever woman to hold the position of Prime Minister of Barbados, she obtained the position back in 2018.
According to Variety, items that are currently up for bid for this year’s ball include, “Jonas Brothers VIP experience, CC Sabathia signed jersey, Paper Planes Outfits for a year, a signed Danny Green NBA finals jersey, fishing with Peter Miller, event coordination services with SO events, a workout with Rihanna’s trainer, and a Savage X Fenty 2020 Fashion Show Experience.”
