Roommates, social media is heartbroken after news surfaced about the death of Rolling Ray. The content creator and self-proclaimed rapper built his name on a bold personality that kept him going viral on Instagram, TikTok, and beyond. Ray’s reported death comes just days before his 29th birthday on September 5.

Details On Rolling Ray’s Passing

TMZ was the first to confirm Rolling Ray’s death after reportedly speaking to his mother. As mentioned, Juan ‘Raymond’ Harper—Ray’s real name—was 28 at the time of his passing. Despite confirmation, no other details about the death are known at this time. Sources close to the deceased tell The Shade Room that the social media star was dealing with medical issues in recent weeks.

Zeus Network, on which RR previously appeared, also confirmed the passing in a heartfelt Instagram post on September 4.

For context, Rolling Ray’s fans started asking about him on Wednesday night after a post from a Facebook account allegedly belonging to his mother, Shazola Nay, shared the news of his death. The alleged post from Shazola asked for prayers during this tough time, but didn’t share specific details about Ray’s passing. TMZ has not confirmed whether the post came from his mother.

“It is with a heavy heavy heart that you all know that my son Ray Ray iamrollingray has gone home to be with the Lord…. I thank everyone who has called or texted, this is going to be a long road… Please pray for us as we push forward to lay him to rest… Only God knows,” Shazola’s alleged post said.

Some folks also took a trip down memory lane, sharing the social media star’s funniest viral moments.

What The Viral Sensation Previously Said About His Health

In August 2024, Rolling Ray updated fans on his health after he dealt with breathing issues between May and June. As TSR previously reported, the social media star thanked his loved ones and the staff at Howard Memorial Hospital in an Instagram post. He explained that his breathing had slowed down, and later revealed he was battling pneumonia and a nonspecific blood infection. Ray said his health scare hit him hard because doctors put a breathing tube on him, which prevented him from being able to speak. He admitted he felt terrified and thought he wouldn’t make it, but he also said he felt proud of himself for pushing through and overcoming these issues.

“It wasn’t easy not being able to speak, but it all worked out.! I thought I was gonna die y’all. But I fought, not just for me but for my fans, family, friends & haters! Because it never gave dead! Awww purrrr!” Ray wrote.
