Shot Over Food Order?!
According to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, the fatal shooting took place last Wednesday night around 10:10 p.m. at the Checkers located on W Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway. Authorities say the incident began with a heated argument between a customer, Wesley Robertson, and a Checkers employee, 23-year-old Elijah Travis Mackey. What began as a verbal dispute over several missing mayonnaise packets escalated quickly and violently.
Surveillance video reviewed by investigators shows Mackey climbing out of the burger joint drive-thru window and approaching Robertson at the front of the restaurant. Witnesses reported a verbal exchange between the two men, during which Robertson allegedly made a derogatory remark to Mackey. That’s when, according to officials, Mackey pulled a small handgun from his waistband and shot Robertson in the chest.

The warrant reports that after being shot, Robertson collapsed and struck his head on the restaurant wall, later succumbing to his injuries. Mackey allegedly fled the scene on foot before he was found. He was then cuffed under the stairwell of the Celebration Suites hotel, according to reports. When police apprehended Mackey, he allegedly told police, “I have a gun on me” and asked, “Is dude OK?”
Robertson was rushed to Osceola Regional Medical Center, but despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead. Mackey was taken into custody shortly after and booked into the Osceola County Jail. He has been charged with first-degree premeditated murder with a firearm.
