Serena Williams Opens Up About Weight Loss Journey
In a recent interview with the Today Show, Serena opened up about her post-pregnancy weight loss struggles and shared that she’s been using a GLP-1 medication—a class of drugs commonly associated with weight loss, like Ozempic and Mounjaro. While she didn’t name the exact one, Serena revealed she’s lost 31 pounds over the past year thanks to the treatment. Serena explained that despite being a professional athlete, traditional methods just weren’t working for her after having her two daughters.
“As a woman, you go through different cycles in your life. No matter what I did — running, walking, I would walk for hours because they say that’s good. I literally was playing a professional sport — and I could never go back to where I needed to be for my health. Then, after my second kid, it just got harder. So then I was like, ‘OK, I have to try something different,’” Serena Williams revealed during the interview.

Finally, Instagram user @jen_bunii added, “At least she was transparent about using GLP-1 unlike most celebrities who lie.“
Who Else Is Using Weight Loss Meds? Celebs Speak Up

While she didn’t name the exact medication, plenty of celebs have openly confirmed their use of Ozempic or similar GLP-1 meds—including Khloé Kardashian, Macy Gray, and Fat Joe. The reactions have been mixed: some have praised the results and said it helped them finally reach their goals, while others made it clear they wouldn’t go down that road again due to the side effects or how it made them feel. Either way, one thing’s for sure—this convo around weight loss and wellness is far from one-size-fits-all.
