Sexyy Red is telling it like it is when it comes to fame and industry friends. The ‘SkeeYee’ rapper recently opened up to DAZED about life in the spotlight and loyalty in rap.

Sexyy Red Speaks About Adjusting To Fame
Sexyy might be raunchy in the booth, skimpy in the clothes, and carefree in her personality, but “evil” she’s not! The rapper, whose real name is Janae Nierah Wherry, clarified that point to the outlet.
“I just want the people to know, though, I’m a nice person too,” Sexyy Red said. “I always pray to God! I’m not no evil spirit; I’m just a carefree spirit in my raps.”
However, no matter how carefree she might be, Red admitted that fame does work her nerves from time to time. A normal life no longer exists, especially with eager fans.
“Sometimes y’all be so annoying. If you see me with my babies bagging up groceries, then get the f**k away from me. No photos,” she told DAZED reporter Thomas Hobbs.
And what about the online hate? Sexyy Red says she’s unbothered! In her eyes, it’s her “job to sh*t on these b***hes and make them mad.” And her self-assessment is that she’s “very good at it.”
“I like making people mad! When they are talking crazy in the comments about my appearance, people ask: ‘Are you sad?’ I swear to God, this shit doesn’t affect me one bit. It’s more like: isn’t it crazy that someone thinks about me so much that they want to post something,” Sexyy Red said.
Loyalty After The Halftime Show?
Speaking of making people mad, Sexyy Red admitted that she feels like a target. The more fame, the more problems!
“I feel like with me, the more famous I get, the more people will see me as a threat,” Sexyy Red told Thomas Hobb. “As I get bigger and more viral, there’s going to be more and more people who want to harm me, 100 percent.”
The question of loyalty has been spoken A LOT in the days since Kendrick Lamar pressed his boot into Drake’s neck during the Super Bowl Halftime Show. Sexyy has been careful not to share any thoughts on their ongoing beef, likely because of her hit collaborations and playful relationship with Drizzy.

Not surprisingly, Sexyy kept the same energy in her DAZED interview. However, she did acknowledge that making music is a job and that her rap peers are simply co-workers, not her true homies!
“I already know they’re not all my real friends! I don’t trust or know a lot of them from a can of collard greens! This is literally a job. We go to work together and we’re coworkers. I do have genuine friendships with a few rappers though, which is nice, but I know that most of them wouldn’t hesitate to double-cross me. That’s life,” Sexyy Red said.
