It’s been less than a week since footage of Sha’Carri Richardson and Christian Coleman‘s public altercation surfaced. As previously reported, police arrested the Texas native in late July after repeatedly yanking and shoving her track bae while moving through Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, including a TSA checkpoint. Christian has already addressed the public incident, but Sha’Carri finally spoke out on Monday (August 11).
Editor’s Note: This article was updated to include an apology from Sha’Carri for Christian Coleman, his new post and bodycam footage from the arrest. Scroll to the second, third and fourth subheadings to read.

Sha’Carri Richardson Shares What’s Next After Airport Tussle
For context, following the minor altercation, police booked Sha’Carri into SCORE South Correctional Facility in Des Moines, Washington, per the New York Post. Despite Christian declining to be a victim while speaking to police, officials charged Richardson with a “fourth-degree domestic violence assault.” The track champion remained locked up for 19 hours before her release on July 28.
Then, on Monday, Richardson hopped on Instagram Stories with two selfie videos to address what happened.
“…A lot of self-reflection, a lot of understanding of not only putting myself in a compromising situation but somebody that I have a deep care and appreciation for as well is something that…holding myself accountable,” she said on-camera. “I see myself.”
Additionally, Sha’Carri revealed she’s taking time to nurture herself and that the work will ultimately reflect who she really is. Though she’s “not allowing this moment” to take over, she’s accepted that it happened. She said she’s inspired to “be more.” Richardson also thanked her family, friends, and fans for supporting and holding her accountable to be her “best self.”
“I refuse to run away, but face everything that comes to me head-on because everything on the other side is greater, but you gotta go through in order to get through.”
Sha’Carri Apologizes To Christian
After her video acknowledgment of her arrest, Sha’Carri Richardson circled back to social media with another message. This time, she apologized directly to her boyfriend. She did not reveal, however, whether the incident impacted their relationship status. Sha’Carri also didn’t say what caused their airport beef in the first place.
“I apologize to Christian. He came into my life & gave me more than a relationship, but a greater understanding of unconditional love from what I’ve experienced in my past. Due to my past trauma & pain, I was blind & blocked off to not only receive it but give it. I love him & to him I can’t apologize enough. My apologize should be just as loud as my actions. Honestly louder. To Christian, I love you & I am so sorry.”
Christian Coleman Shares THIS Post Amid Sha’Carri’s Apology (UPDATE)
Soon after Sha’Carri’s apology, Christian Coleman shared a new Instagram feed post, but didn’t address his girlfriend’s words. “Be strong, we almost there,” he wrote in the caption. The three images he attached showed him on a track, hinting at his growth as a pro-athlete and Olympian.
Unlike Sha’Carri, Christian Coleman wasted no time addressing the airport reports when they first aired! Within a week of her arrest and release, the pro-track star said he felt like it was “a sucky situation all around.” He emphasized that he didn’t think officers should’ve arrested his girlfriend, and mentioned that people experience expressions and emotions.
“She has, like, things she needs to work on for herself, of course. But so do I, so do you. Everybody,” Christian said.
He added that he’s the type to offer “grace, mercy, and love” rather than turning the airport incident into an “obstacle.” He also said he was using the opportunity to step back and analyze before moving forward. At this time, it’s unclear if the couple is still dating following the airport incident. He and Sha’Carri first sparked romance rumors after he enthusiastically embraced her following her win at the 2023 Budapest World Championships. She then hinted at being in a committed relationship in December 2024, but he made his debut on her Instagram in February with boo’d up photos.
Bodycam Footage Shows Sha’Carri Telling Cops Christian Is “A Liar” (UPDATE)
Bodycam footage has surfaced of Sha’Carri in the moments leading up to her airport arrest. In a few clips cut by TSR, he admitted to the cops that they had argued, then, at the officer’s request, she said:
“The argument, pretty much he’s a liar. He lied about a couple of things that’s personally, just in a relationship. I also just gotta understand what a relationship is about. But he lied. He’s a liar, and that was something that I kinda just grasped. And emotionally, I’m just like bet you do your thing…” she said.
Sha’Carri added that he wanted something in her possession, and she felt it was her right not to hand it over. She was seemingly trying to clear the air, saying it was just a “relationship thing.” However, that didn’t turn out in her favor because officers announced she was under arrest shortly after. She appeared stunned by the arrest and started speaking to Christian, who was off-camera. She asked if he was “serious right now,” and denied to officers that she assaulted her boyfriend. One officer replied, “We have cameras,” she again insisted it was just an argument before telling the officer that she wasn’t resisting.
In the more extended footage, Coleman can be seen denying that there’s been any assault. At one point, he says that he thinks she’s in her feelings. The officer questioning Christian even seemed to suggest they’d be let go. Then, Sha’Carri seemingly said “F**k you” to Coleman in front of the cops, blaming him for involving them (even though a TSA worker is the one who made the accusations of violence, per the footage). After they asked her to step aside, she was ultimately arrested as the aggressor. WATCH THE ENTIRE BODYCAM FOOTAGE FROM WET FLOOR BODY CAMS BELOW.
