Stephen A. Smith Addresses Presidential Run Speculation
As the Democratic Party scrambles to regroup for 2028, Stephen A. Smith is out here still flirting with the idea of a presidential run — and he’s not sugarcoating a thing. During his recent appearance on ‘Real Time with Bill Maher,’ the NBA analyst and ‘First Take’ host made it clear he’s not fully sold on jumping into the race, but he’s not closing the door either.
“Listen, life is good, man. I mean, I leave the door open,” Stephen told Maher. “I can’t imagine myself doing it, but I haven’t ruled it out, because I’m disgusted with what I’m seeing on the left.”

The Comments Are Divided
The YouTube comments under Stephen A. Smith’s interview with ABC News’ Jonathan Karl on ‘This Week’ are straight-up divided. Some viewers are hyping him up as a fresh, unfiltered voice who could actually shake up a tired political system, while others are calling him completely out of his depth. Then, there’s a whole other crowd saying Democrats are low-key panicking at the thought of Smith stepping into the political arena and messing with the status quo.
This Youtuber @armyguyspc commented, “Democrats are freaking out“
And, Youtuber @citizen_morgan7444 wrote, “Stephen A is so full of himself 💩💩💩”
Meanwhile, Youtuber @bertpainter8385 shared, “Stephen A. is making his way into the political presidential limelight. Although he is still playing both sides when he interviews for the most part.“
While, Youtuber @monroec.hatcherjr.8233 added, “Stephen A…. impressive intellectual analytics…non biased…I appreciate his viewpoints“
Then, Youtuber @millecinematics said, “He’s gonna run for office ❗❗”
Stephen’s Previous Comments On Running
In a recent episode of ‘The Stephen A. Smith Show,’ he lit up the Democratic Party, calling them out for what he sees as a string of failures — especially after their losses last November. He didn’t hold back, y’all. With Democrats now out of power and Trump deep in his second term, Smith says he feels like he “has no choice” but to consider stepping into the political ring. And, apparently, he’s not the only one thinking it — Stephen says the demand from the public is that loud.
“Here’s the reality: People, literally people, have walked up to me, including my own pastor, for crying out loud, who has said to me, ‘You don’t know what God has planned for you. At least show the respect to the people who believe in you, who respect you, who believe that you can make a difference in this country, to leave the door open for any possibilities some to three years down the line.’ And that’s what I’ve decided to do.”
