As we all know that the “dab” has literally taken the world by storm because literally everyone is doing it! From athletes to even news anchors and embarrassing elders have all been caught doing the dance.
While the dance is spreading like a disease, of course the next question would be who started this epidemic in the first place!
Bowwow recently was under fire after he tried to explain that the “dab” originally comes from how people smoke strong forms of marijuana.“The world dabbing and they don’t even understand or know what dab is. First of all, dab is a strong way to smoke marijuana, it’s the purest form of marijuana. It’s extremely strong, so the dance comes from when you smoking and you coughing, the first thing you do is [does dab motion].”
Of course people laughed off his explanation because according to most, including publications like XXL, dabbin’ was created by Migos and Atlanta quickly adopted the ad-lib and made it what it is today. Well it looks like folks in St. Louis are saying Migos are fraud and that the dance was around long before they started claiming it!
If you search Phantasik Tv on YouTube you can see groups of people incorporating the dab into their dances in years as early as 2009. The dance was apparently popular at parties and events in the cities but unfortunately STL and its youth got no credit in the rebirth that has everybody from Future to Cam Newton doing it!
