Over the weekend, the husband of “1000-Lb. Sisters” star Tammy Slaton passed away. The cause of Caleb Willingham‘s death remains undisclosed, but Slaton spoke to TMZ via statement about the tragic matter. Willingham was 40 years old.

“I am devastated to share the news of my husband’s passing. He was my best friend and I loved him dearly,” Tammy stated.

Tammy Slaton Says Deceased Husband Is Now Her ‘Guardian Angel’

Like Tammy Slaton, Caleb also struggled with weight loss over the years. In fact, the couple met in 2022 at Windsor Lane Rehabilitation Center while undergoing obesity treatment. TLC has documented Tammy and her sister Amy Slaton’s weight loss journey over the course of four seasons.

After falling in love, Caleb Willingham proposed to Tammy in October. One month later, in November, they married at the Gibsonburg, Ohio, rehab facility. According to PEOPLE, the couple had 30 family members and friends at the “small celebration.” The union aired on “1000-Lb. Sisters.”

She later told PEOPLE, “I love waking up every morning and seeing his face. And seeing his face every night before going to bed.”

Caleb’s passing comes following a May report from The Sun about the couple allegedly splitting up. The outlet reported that the separation was sparked by Willingham’s alleged troubles with following his restricted diet. Tammy was allegedly in the process of filing for divorce.

But in her official statement about his death, Tammy Slaton focused on her love for her husband.

“When I met Caleb he became my guardian angel, and now he really is watching over me. Our families appreciate everyone’s sympathy and ask that you respect our privacy at this time,” she stated.

In a video posted to her TikTok account, Slaton did confirm that they were “having problems.” However, through sobs, she affirmed her love for Caleb and refused to detail his passing.

“…I’m in stages of grief. Yeah, we were having problems, but I loved that man, and I still do. I miss him like crazy, but I wanted to thank everybody for…your comments. I appreciate them, I really do. We’re not gon get into details about what happened. I think that no offense, but it’s really personal.”
