Taraji P. Henson Creates “COVID-19 Free Virtual Therapy Support” Campaign

Taraji P. Henson is not only glamming it for the ‘Gram, while quarantined, but she is also putting mental health at the forefront with her foundation, “The Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation,” founded in 2018.

On Instagram, Henson announced the “COVID-19 Free Virtual Therapy Support” Campaign, and in part stated, “This campaign is for underserved communities experiencing life changing events related to, or triggered by, the COVID-19 pandemic.

She also added, “In the African-American community, we’ve been taught to tough it out, hide our suffering, but this is something none of us have ever experienced, and no one should suffer in silence.”

The “Hidden Figures” actress has kicked off a “COVID-19 Free Virtual Therapy Support  Campaign,” she announced on Wednesday. The purpose of this initiative is to address the effects of unemployment, sudden loss, social distancing, as well as other issues related to the viral pandemic.

Those who sign up for the campaign will receive free virtual therapy service. According to the campaign’s website, the “COVID-19 Free Virtual Therapy Support Campaign” will work to ensure that individuals with life-changing stressors and anxiety related to the coronavirus will have the cost for up to five session defrayed on a first come, first serve basis until all funds are committed or exhausted.”

Researchers suggest that Black people are dying at disproportionately higher rates in the United States. For example, the city of Chicago has 72% of virus-related fatalities are of Black people, despite the fact that Black people represent for a little less than a third of the population.

As of today, there have been 468, 286 people infected and 16,663 have passed. So far 25, 316 have recovered.
