‘The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air’ Premiered 29 Years Ago Today

We all have our favorite television shows that we enjoyed watching while growing up. It’s worth mentioning that the “Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air” is definitely up there on many people’s list. Today back in 1990, the show first aired on NBC.

For the first time, it allowed Will Smith to transition over from music to acting, and the show introduced us to so many characters that we were able to see ourselves in. Starring alongside Will Smith was Alfonso Ribero, Tatyana Ali, James Avery, Karyn Parsons, Janet Hubert, Daphne Maxwell-Reid, Joseph Marcell and DJ Jazzy Jeff.

There are tons of episodes that have gone down as classics. The show went on to last for a total of six seasons before officially ending in 1996.

In recent years, Will Smith has developed a presence for himself on social media. Mainly through Instagram and YouTube. He has used the platforms to not only connect with his fans, but he has also used the platforms as a form of storytelling.

Last year, he gave the back story on why he decided to join the show and said, “Before I was getting in trouble with Uncle Phil, I was getting in trouble with Uncle Sam.”

He then went on to tell the story about how he made a lot of money through his music career, however, he experienced a time where he went through some money troubles. He ended meeting Benny Madina at the Arsenio Hall show, who pitched him the idea of the show.

However, he wasn’t completely sold on the idea until he met with Quincy Jones, who actually produced the show.
