The Mother Of Joshua Brown’s Son Asks For Prayers As She Prepares To Celebrate Their Son’s First Birthday Following His Passing

Many are still trying to process the heartbreaking and untimely passing of Joshua Brown, the young man who was a neighbor of Botham Jean and testified as a witness during Amber Guyger’s trial. Brown was shot and killed near his home just days after taking the stand in the case—and now, the mother of his son is grasping with celebrating their son’s first birthday without him.

Joshua Brown was a key witness in the Amber Guyger trial, as he testified against her and was likely one of the factors that resulted in her conviction and 10-year prison sentence. On October 4th, police said they found a man lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds, who was later identified as Brown after he was transported to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas where he passed away from his injuries.

The mother of Brown’s son is preparing to celebrate the little boy’s first birthday in a few weeks—unfortunately that birthday will now be celebrated without Brown. The young woman took to social media to post a heartfelt message asking for prayers as she navigates a very difficult time.

Her tweet read:

“My son just lost his dad 3 weeks before his 1st birthday. Keep our baby boy in your prayers please. WE NEED ANSWERS AND WE NEED JUSTICE!!! #JusticeForJoshuaBrown #RestEasyKing”

She has also set up a GoFundMe to cover Brown’s funeral expenses. You can donate funds here.

Meanwhile, activist Shaun King recently announced that his friend Bill Perkins is offering a $100,000 reward for anyone who can help with finding those responsible for Brown’s death. We want to continue to keep Joshua Brown’s family and friends in our prayers.
