UPDATE: Tiffany Haddish Charged With DUI Following Arrest On Thanksgiving

Tiffany Haddish has officially been charged following her recent DUI last month. As previously reported, police officers arrested the comedian on November 24 in Beverly Hills after finding her sleeping behind the wheel of her vehicle while under the influence.

TMZ reports that the L.A. District Attorney’s Office had been busy reviewing the 44-year-old’s case and has charged her for driving under the influence of alcohol with a 0.8% BAC.

Sleeping Behind The Wheel For A Second Time In Two Years

Reports claim that Haddish was sleeping and slumped over the wheel while the car ran. After she was taken into custody, prosecutors went on to file a motion for a provision on the actress’ bond, stating that she must abstain from drinking and submit to a drug test. The judge granted the request, preventing Haddish from drinking alcohol and ordering her not to use any drugs unless prescribed by a doctor.

Soon after her release, Haddish wasted no time getting back on stage for her stand-up comedy show in Long Beach on Thanksgiving Day. She later spoke to Entertainment Tonight and said that she’d be getting the help that she needed to avoid any further run-ins with the cops.

And given that this is her second DUI in two years — the first being in Georgia in January 2022 — Haddish seems more determined than ever to return on the right path.

When asked about her arrest by the aforementioned publication, she said, “this will never happen again.” She also shared details on how she managed to park her car in the middle of a busy street before falling asleep, saying that her Tesla had parked itself when she was dozing off.

She had parked her car in a way that still blocked a portion of the street, which consequently led law enforcement officers to show up and arrest her. “I’m going to get some help so I can learn balance and boundaries,” she said.

Tiffany Haddish’s Previous Arrest In Georgia

In January 2022, Georgia authorities cited Haddish for driving under the influence. Similar to her most recent incident, the Peachtree City PD officers discovered the ‘Girls Trip’ star asleep in the passenger seat of her car in response to calls from a driver who’d fallen asleep at the wheel.

The police arrested her for improper stopping on a roadway and DUI, but she only remained in jail for a few hours after paying her $1,666 bond. Claims emerged at the time of her DUI charge that Haddish was struggling with immense loss in her life following the death of several people in her family and close circle. From the passing of her grandmother and her dog, to grieving the sudden death of her industry friends Carl Craig and Bob Saget.

Fortunately, however, Haddish says she’s getting the help she needs to avoid the possibility of getting a third citation for DUI in three years.
