Whew! Former NFL player Trevone Boykin finally spoke out following his controversial comments about Russell Wilsons Thanksgiving dinner, and hes serving up an apology hotter than Little Caesar’s pizza. On the latest episode of the ‘House of Playmakers’ podcast, Boykin addressed the situation directly, admitting he could have handled his words better when he previously called Wilsons gathering weird.
During the Friday episode, Boykin explained that as a kid from Dallas, Texas who grew up in “a traditional household where family always came together, he initially perceived Russell Wilsons catered Thanksgiving with no family present as unusual. He admitted he should have provided more context for his remark and acknowledged that the Wilson household never asked for their private life to be discussed publicly. Boykin also apologized specifically to Ciara’s son, Future, stressing that he shared a moment from 10 years ago and that they “didn’t deserve” to have personal details aired.
He continued by saying that hes still new to podcasting, with the show having fewer than 10 episodes, and that mistakes are part of the learning curve. Boykin emphasized that his intent wasnt to disrespect anyone, particularly Russell Wilson or his family, and made it clear he hopes to maintain good standing with Future fans while being more mindful about what he shares publicly moving forward.
And chile, the comment section went off! Folks umped into The Shade Room comments like there was no tomorrow. Some said the apology didnt feel genuine, others called it jealousy at its finest, a few applauded Trevone for going public, and plenty felt he was getting cooked and had no choice but to spin the block.

In case you missed it, a clip of Trevone Boykin spilling about a past Thanksgiving at Russell Wilson and Ciara’s house recently resurfaced on social media and chile the way he described it had folks talking. He labeled the intimate gathering weird since Russells family wasnt there and added that if he had Russells money and Alaska Airlines hookup, hed be flying everyone out for a fancy feast. The dinner reportedly included just Ciara, Russell, the nanny, Baby Future, Trevone, and a few othersbut at the end of the day, its Russ and Ciaras celebration, and they get to pick who makes the guest list.
Ever since Russell Wilsons mom went off Trevone Boykin hasnt been the same. In a resurfaced post making the rounds, Tammy Wilson didnt hold back after Boykin commented on her sons Thanksgiving, stepping boldly into TSRs comment section with a full-on sermon. Tammy clocked him with Russ “thought enough of you, who has a criminal history, to love you enough to invite you over,” and “I hope you felt relevant for a few minutes.” Whew! And, if that wasnt enough, Boykin also caught major backlash from Shannon Sharpe and Chad Johnson during their podcast, leaing him fully in the hot seat.
