Prayers Up! Trina Braxton’s Husband Von Scales Passes Away At 58

Roommates, the Braxton family has suffered a loss. Von Scales, the beloved husband of Trina Braxton, reportedly passed away on Thursday (Oct. 1). She has not publicly commented on Scales’ death, but a Braxton family rep confirmed the death to TMZ.

Trina Braxton & Family Request Privacy Amid Von Scales’ Death

The Braxton rep reportedly told TMZ: “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Von Scales, the beloved husband of Trina Braxton.”Also, the statement thanked the public for their support while requesting privacy.

“The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers but is asking for privacy at this time as they navigate this unfortunate event.”

TMZ, citing sources close to the family, says Von Scales passed away a few hours after midnight on Oct. 1 in Atlanta. His cause of death is unknown at this time. TMZ cited hearsay about Scales’ possibly suffering from “heart-related problems.”

Trina Braxton & Von Scales Wed In 2019

Braxton and Von Scales, per USA Today, met through mutual friends and got married in 2019. Previously on her family’s reality show, Trina shared her adoration for Von, calling their relationship “different” from her past ones. “He just makes me feel real safe,” she said then of her now late husband. During his proposal, Von Scales reportedly told Trina Braxton, “I love you with all that I have in a way I didn’t think possible.”

After the wedding aired on TV, she reportedly told PEOPLE that it was “unpredictable and amazing.” On the podcast ‘Marriage and Money’ in 2023, she opened up about how her marriage to Von was different from her past ones.

“Id been married twice already, so I had two husbands and I hadnt built anything with either one of them. There was nothing to expound upon. But now there are things that we can look forward to together, and Ive never had that before in my life…Its an amazing feeling to be able to lean on someone as opposed to being the person that someone else has to lean on,” Trina said at the time on the podcast.

Trina’s Previous Husband Also Passed Away

Von Scales’ passing signals Trina Braxton’s second time navigating the loss of her husband. Before marrying Scales, she had gone through a divorce from Gabriel Solis. They wed in 2003 and he helped raised her two sons, Eric and Caleb, from her first marriage to Jose Jr.. Solis and Trina’s relationship ups and downs, including a vow renewal and repeated infidelity issues, played out for fans to see on the show, ‘Braxton Family Values.’ Ultimately, Trina and Gabriel separated and divorced in 2015 after nearly 12 years married. They eventually formed a close before his untimely passing from pancreatic cancer in December 2018 at age 43. Von, she previously said, stood by her during her grief. Also, in 2022, Trina’s sister, Traci Braxton, died at 50 from cancer.
