Lil Durk‘s racketeering trial has been postponed until August 2027. The RICO trial was set to begin on Monday, October 5, but a judge granted a motion for a continuance in a shocking update.
Lil Durk’s racketeering trial has been postponed until August 30, 2027, according to LA Magazine. Attorneys for the ‘All My Life‘ artist filed a motion for a continuance on Wednesday, September 30.
The 33-year-old rapper was found not guilty in a criminal trial earlier this month. Prosecutors accused Durk of conspiring to kill Tyquian Bowman, otherwise known as rapper Quando Rondo, in 2022. As a result, Bowman’s cousin, Savaiya Robinson, was shot and killed by mistake. Lil Durk and his co-defendants, David Lindsey and DeAndre Wilson, were tried and acquitted of the murder-for-hire conspiracy plot. Durk was accused of ordering Lindsey and Wilson to kill Bowman.
However, Lindsey and Wilson were found guilty of stalking, resulting in Robinsons death. In July 2026, before the acquittal, new charges were added to the indictment, a murder-for-hire case a VICAR charge (Violent Crimes in Aid of Racketeering Activity). Prosecutors claim that Durk led the alleged criminal organization Banks Gang Enterprise. They allege that Durk’s co-defendants committed the murder because of their positions within the organization. Durk is charged with murder in aid of racketeering.
Subsequently, Judge Michael W. Fitzgerald granted a continuance and ruled the new charges were added too close to the criminal trial.
“The Court further finds that: (i) the ends of justice served by the continuance outweigh the best interest of the public and defendant in a speedy trial; (ii) failure to grant the continuance would be likely to make a continuation of the proceeding impossible, or result in a miscarriage of justice; (iii) the case is so unusual and so complex, due to the nature of the prosecution including the conspiracy charges against al1 defendants, the volume of discovery, and the number of defendants that it is unreasonable to expect preparation for pre-trial proceedings or for the trial itself within the time limits established by the Speedy Trial Act; and (iv) failure to grant the continuance would unreasonably deny defendant continuity of counsel and would deny defense counsel the reasonable time necessary for effective preparation, taking into account the exercise of due diligence,” the ruling states. “THEREFORE, FOR GOOD CAUSE SHOWN: 1. The trial in this matter is continued from October 5, 2026, to August 30, 2027, at 8:30 a.m.”
The Shade Room reported that Lil Durk was found not guilty in the criminal trial for the alleged murder-for-hire plot resulting in the death of Savaiya Robinson.Robinson, 24, was shot to death at the Beverly Center in Los Angeles in August 2022.
The rapper was acquitted on Friday, September 11. His co-defendants were also acquitted of murder and murder-for-hire. However, they were found guilty of stalking, resulting in Robinsons death. A bond hearing for the artist is scheduled for Wednesday, November 4.
Lil Durk shared a statement on Instagram on Saturday, September 12, following the verdict.
“Against all odds, were stronger together,” he wrote. “Allah doesnt make mistakes. I feel all the love and positive energy. Now let me be free to help save our kids and bring unity back to our communities. I couldnt have made it this far without my family, my lawyers, and supporters. Freedom. Freedom. Freedom.”
