Young Thug’s Dad, Jeffrey Williams Sr., Speaks On His Hometown Ban

As reported by TSR, Thugger’s legal team announced on Thursday, October 31 his decision to accept a non-negotiable plea deal.

Subsequently, Williams Sr. expressed his thoughts on the plea deal during an exclusive interview with 11Alive. He stated he was “totally against” the emcee’s exclusion from the city. He also noted that he currently resides in the area. Jeffrey Sr. further explained his discontent with the ruling, stating he disagrees with it because Metro Atlanta is his son’s home.

“To have a district attorney take that away from him that isn’t a resident from here… she’s from another state. You know, and to see her take a man away from where he’s from to have to go live somewhere else that’s offensive to me. I’m really [offended] by that,” Jeffrey Williams Sr. said.

Thug Requests To Contact His Brother & Gunna After Plea Deal

After Young Thug’s plea deal announcement, Judge Whitaker warned him to not contact any co-defendants in the trial. However, Young Thug’s lawyer, Brian Steel, requested exemptions for two people: his biological brother Quantavious Grier and Gunna, formerly known as Sergio Giavanni Kitchens, who is a signed artist on his YSL label.

“Mr. Williams and Mr. Kitchens are contractually obligated and they frequently perform music together,” Brian Steel said in the court footage.

More Details On Thugger’s Plea Deal & Sentencing

On October 31, social media flooded with reactions as Young Thug’s YSL RICO trial wrapped up. TSR reported that the rapper’s legal team announced his plea deal. Thug has been in custody since May 2022. Jury selection began in January 2023 and opening statements in November of that year.

Young Thug accepted a non-negotiated plea deal. He admitted to six counts of gang-related activity and entered a no-contest plea for leading a criminal street gang and conspiracy to violate the RICO Act. The state recommended a 45-year sentence: 25 years in custody and 20 years on probation. Superior Court Judge Paige Reese Whitaker sentenced him to 40 years, with the first five years commuted to time served. Afterward, Young Thug will serve 15 years probation, and if unsuccessful he will be served with 20 years in custody.
