On Friday, Gabourey Frankel opened up on Instagram about being diagnosed with Stage I Papillary Thyroid cancer following surgery to remove the tumor. “I refused to ‘wait and see,'” he wrote. Frankel added, “I made the calls [and] leveraged connections. I chased cancellations [and] made a LOT of noise. It worked.”
The surgery went well, and while the pathology showed a more aggressive cell type, Frankel is already focusing on recovery and being present for his family.
