Brian McKnight Jr. is reflecting on Niko McKnight‘s last moments, revealing that Brian McKnight refused to tell his brother that he loved him before he passed away from cancer.

Brian McKnight Jr. Says Dad Refused To Tell Niko McKnight He Loved Him Before He Passed From Cancer
According to Page Six, Marc Lamont Hill released an exclusive interview with Jr. and his mother, Julie McKnight, via Patreon earlier this week. On Wednesday, December 3, Hill shared a clip from the interview via Instagram, stating it was one of the “most painful moments.”
“One of the most painful moments in my interview with Brian McKnight Jr. and Julie McKnight was hearing them discuss the last moments between Brian Sr. and his now deceased son Niko. I can’t imagine how impossibly difficult this entire ordeal was for the entire family,” Hill wrote in part.
In the clip, Jr. told Hill one of the “darkest memories” he has is the day Niko called him, “sobbing.”
“All my brother wanted and needed — asked for, was my father to tell him that he loves him… and my father responds to him, ‘I can’t arbitrarily say that I love you.’ But this is the man that wanted to help him?” Brian McKnight Jr. recalled in the footage.
Additionally, the clip cut to Julie McKnight referencing the voicemail her ex-husband posted of her instructing him not to contact Niko. She explained that she was present for a phone call where her ex spoke so “belittling” to Niko about his disregard for his “new family,” and this prompted the voicemail she left.

As Page Six previously reported, tensions initially ran high between Brian McKnight and his family in October 2023. At the time, the singer shared that he was changing his name from matching his eldest son with Julie, to now match the name of his youngest son, Brian Kainoa Makoa Jr., whom he shares with his new wife, Leilani Mendoza.
Brian McKnight then referred to his older children as “products of sin.” Then, in May, Niko McKnight passed away from cancer, per The Shade Room. On the date of Niko’s first heavenly birthday, Brian McKnight alleged that he won an $8.8 million judgment against Julie McKnight for defamation. Additionally, he also posted a voicemail of Julie directing him to stay away from Niko.
Julie shut down her ex-husband’s claim about winning the lawsuit, and since then, McKnight has gone viral for alleging that he was never in love with her. At this time, Brian McKnight has not publicly reacted to Brian McKnight Jr. and Julie McKnight’s sitdown with Marc Lamont Hill. However, in October, he seemingly took to Instagram to blame Brian McKnight Jr. and his ex-wife for “manipulating” Niko and keeping him away.
