K. Michelle Sounds Off On AI Artist

During the livestream, K. Michelle addressed a fan who claimedthey wanted to write for her. While shutting down the offer, K. Michelle also seemingly took shots at AI artists who she believes are using her likeness, mentioning plans to lawyer up. In the clip, K. Michelle can be heard saying:

You know what? I dont need nobody writing me no songs right now. I got so much built-up tension. AI people using my tones, and my voice, and all of that. And now I gotta go find a lawyer. All types of stuff going on.”

As previously reported, AI artist Xania Monet is the creation of Telisha Nikki Jones, a 31-year-old Mississippi native and songwriter who admits she cannot sing. Jones uses 100% of her own lyrics to power the AI singer, bringing Xania Monet to life through the Suno AI platform. However, many have agreed that Monet sounds just like K. Michelle, seemingly crossing a line she isnt willing to accept. To note, Monet’s Apple Music bio even compares the artist’s voice to Michelle’s, Keyshia Cole’s, and Muni Long’s.

TL Explodes Over AI Voice That Hits K. Michelle Vibes

Chile fans rushed to the Shade Room Instagram comments to spill the tea on the alleged AI artist, with many saying she sounds just like K. Michelle. Some argued that suing an AI artist would be nearly impossible, while others threw a little shade and said K. Michelle should just get with the program. Either way, the TL was fully activated over this AI voice drama.

Milli Vanilli 2.0? Jermaine Dupri Thinks So

Looks like K. Michelle isnt the only one side-eyeing AI in music. Legendary producer Jermaine Dupri just shook the table this week, taking to X to drag the rise of AI artists and calling out the inustrys authenticity crisis. Drawing a straight line to the infamous Milli Vanilli scandal of 1990, Dupri reminded fans how the German pop duo won a Grammy for Best New Artist without actually singing a single note on their album while other vocalists did all the work. The Grammys pulled their award, and now Dupris asking: are AI-generated voices the next Milli Vanilli moment waiting to happen?

So let me get this right, Dupri shared. Years ago, the industry found out that Milli Vanilli werent really the voices on their Grammy-winning record, and they were stripped of their Grammy, but now were getting ready to accept people who cant even sing, creating songs for a fake person? How is this any different than Milli Vanilli?
