It’s clear that LeBron James has made a lot of legendary moves in his career. But, one L.A. fan, Andrew Garcia, says the king just played him way too well. After LeBron hinted that a major decision was coming, social media lit up with speculation that the NBA icon might be hanging it up for good. But, when the “big announcement” turned out to be just a Hennessy commercial, one fan wasnt laughingand now hes lawyering up.
According to court docs, 29-year-old Andrew Garciawho calls himself a lifelong Lakers fanfiled a small claims lawsuit in Los Angeles County this week, demanding $865.66 from LeBron James for what hes calling fraud and deception. Why? Because when Bron teased a life-changing “decision” earlier this week, Garcia believed that LeBron was about to announce his retirement.
Acting fast, Garcia hopped on Ticketmaster and dropped serious coin on two seats for the March 31, 2026 game against the CavsLeBrons former teamthinking it would be the GOATs final appearance. But the next day, LeBron revealed the whole thing was just a promo for his Hennessy collab and now Garcia says those pricey tickets arent worth a dime. I wouldnt have purchased it if he wasnt going to retire. Plain and simple, Garcia told TMZ Sports. Meanwhile, LeBron, whos still the NBAs all-time leading scorer, hasnt publicly responded to the backlash or the lawsuit.
Andrew Garcia isnt the only one who felt played. Plenty of NBA fans said they were blinded by LeBrons dramatic decision tease, thinking the king was about to retire for real. While some called it the plot twist of the decade, others felt trolled by the GOAT and didnt hold back. Fans ran to the King James’ Instagram comment section to air it all out. Some dragged the promo’s rollout, but others are relieved that Brons still lacing up his sneakers.

Whew, its not jut LeBron catching heat. Another fan was hollering, run me my money! after Shedeur Sanders dropped to 144th in the NFL Draft earlier this year. In alawsuit, a fan (listed as John Doe) sued the league for everything from antitrust violations to emotional distress. And, he claimed NFL owners colluded to tank Sanders draft stock after leaked reports painted him in a negative light. He demanded $100 million, a formal apology, and a retraction of what he calls “slander.” Furthermore, the fan even requested changes to how the NFL handles draft picks.
