If you ask Jalen Hurts or Tyler Lepley, there was enough LOVE in the air in 2024 to get down on one knee. On the flip side, this year, at least 15 celebrity couples found themselves in divorce court. But do you know which break-ups hit hardest? Couples that started out as the internet’s goals and ended up as the opposite! Over the years, some splits have been messy, and others filled with mutual respect.
From Tia Mowry and Cory Hardrict to Meagan Good and Devon Franklin, here are four celebrity couples who had fans hooked on love before it all came crashing down!
“Couple Goals” Gone Wrong! Remy Ma & Papoose
Not the Golden Couple, not the shining examples of Black love. Yup, we’re starting with arguably the most SHOCKING “couple goals” who went left. Remy Ma and Papoose shattered hearts in December 2024 when they aired each other out on social media after nearly 16 years together. Rumors of a troubled marriage started creeping on the internet in 2023 after a battle rapper exposed that Remy had allegedly cheated on Pap with another battle rapper named Eazy The Block Captain. In October, a different rapper made similar claims about a “married rapper” being unfaithful with Eazy. At the time, Ma pressed the rapper out online but didn’t admit to any of the cheating rumors.
Fast-forward to December 12. In the early morning hours, Remy Ma hopped on the ‘gram to expose text messages between Papoose and Claressa Shields. In her caption, Ma revealed that she went through Pap’s phone after he fell asleep on the phone at her house. Remy claimed that Claressa acted “scary” and hung up when Ma picked up the phone and spoke. Claressa wasted no time clapping back, accusing the rapper of having two boyfriends. Ma then accused Claressa of planting stories about her in the press.
Papoose later joined the public group chat and alleged that Remy Ma was a repeat cheater. “Now that I have finally moved on, she’s playing the victim. I have requested a divorce numerous times. She rather clout chase on social media,” he wrote on IG Stories on the same day. He also posted and deleted a photo of Remy and Eazy, claiming that’s who she spent last Christmas with while he was with their daughter.

Things got messier from there. Ma denied that she ever cheated on Pap. Instead, she accused him of being jealous that she started a rap league and claimed he tried to get her arrested. He denied, denied, denied while she kept going in on him AND Claressa. Shields shared her own spicy words for Remy via X, and Ma’s battle rapper boo also weighed in.

Both sides calmed down within a week. However, Remy Ma and Claressa Shields have both shared shady, dolled-up posts since then. It’s unclear if Remy and Papoose have already taken their woes to court or whether they rekindled for the holidays!
Whew! Like Remy and Pap, Teyana Taylor and Iman Shumpert were internet favorites for their representation of Black love. Two successful entertainers from different fields started a beautiful family that now includes two daughters, Junie and Rue Rose.
In 2023, after seven years of marriage, Teyana and Iman smacked their fans’ rose-colored glasses off. At the top of the year, Teyana had filed for divorce using their initials for privacy. When Iman clapped back in court, he used their full names and exposed their ongoing divorce. Teyana confirmed their split in September 2023 but denied that cheating was involved and insisted they were still friends.

By November, that friendly image shattered. Media outlets reported details from Teyana’s court filing, which accused Iman of being a jealous narcissist and labeled their marriage as “irretrievably broken.” Additionally, the filing claims Shumpert treated the movie star “cruelly” and intentionally acted in ways to dim her light throughout the years. It also revealed that she had previously filed for divorce in 2022 before withdrawing it.
Teyana later responded to the leaked divorce filing details and asked for privacy, while Iman’s lawyer said his client was looking forward to a “fair resolution.”

The former couple kicked off this year with more shady comments. Court documents showed Teyana accusing her ex of negligent child care. That same month, the singer also clarified reports of Iman shutting off the utilities in their home. She said that all of the ultimate were “back on same day that sh*t was pulled.”

After a few more months of back-and-forth legal filings, Teyana and Iman settled their divorce in June 2024. Teyana was awarded four properties, while Iman kept his condo in Miami and two compound properties in Georgia. Shumpert is also responsible for $8,000 in monthly child support, 100 percent of their school fees, and a seven-figure lump sum to Taylor. Additionally, they both got to keep full ownership of their individual businesses.
Unlike the two couples above, Tia Mowry and Cory Hardrict have taken a more gentle route post-split. They were married for 14 years and welcomed two kids before she filed for divorce under “irreconcilable differences” in October 2022. Their divorce was finalized in April 2023 amid what would’ve been their 15th wedding anniversary.
Before and since then, they’ve both been candid about life after each other. Tia has detailed her struggles with re-entering the dating scene and wanting to find herself after marriage. She’s also spoken candidly about her relationship, revealing that she lost her virginity to Cory at age 25—five years after they met.

In June 2024, Cory finally opened up about his emotional health after the divorce. He admitted that he had been in a pained state and crying himself to sleep for “a year and a half.” However, during that time, he said he learned his strength. A few months later, in September, he spoke about co-parenting with Tia and how they make it all about the kids.
“Everything is about the kids… in co-parenting and keeping it just still a family and love-based — still keeping God first at the center of everything and just walking with love, man,” he said.
Needless to say, the former couple has been walking their talk and have not yet dragged or aired each other out on social media. In fact, Tia and Cory were all smiles in footage she shared on Christmas Day of them with their kids. In her caption, Tia wrote: “Family is where life begins and love never ends.”
