Missy Elliott Is Grateful For The Supafriends’ Support

The exciting news came via a Wednesday morning announcement, and Missy’s name immediately captured people’s attention.

While a quick scroll through Rock Hall’s complete list of inductees will show names like Eminem, Tupac Shakur, and Jay-Z, no female rap stars are recognized. However, that’s set to change when Rock Hall holds its induction ceremony on Nov. 3, 2023.

In response to the announcement, Missy hopped on Twitter and expressed her gratitude. She also acknowledged, “This door is now OPEN.” Period!

“I want to say this is HUGE not for just me but all my Sisters in HIPHOP this door is now OPEN to showcase the hard work & what many of us contribute to MUSIC. I have cried all morning because I am GRATEFUL thank you Rock Hall & all on the committee & Supafriends.”

Missy went on to speak on how people calling her “irrelevant” or “washed up” would “crush [her] at times.” However, she persevered and noted that her work spoke for itself.

In a final tweet addressing the accomplishment, the Portsmouth, Virginia, native once again thanked the “Supafriends” before repping her 757 area code.

Chaka Khan & Don Cornelius Of Soul Train Will Also Be Honored

We also have to point out that Ms. Chaka Khan will also be inducted into Rock Hall! In fact, she’s set to be honored in the Musical Excellence Award category.

Aside from these two superstars, other inductees include George Michael, Sheryl Crow, Willie Nelson, and Rage Against the MachineSoul Train star Don Cornelius will also be inducted in the Ahmet Ertegun Award category.

John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, ultimately notes, “This year’s incredible group of Inductees reflects the diverse artists and sounds that define rock & roll.”

Congratulations to Missy Elliott on making Rock & Roll Hall of Fame history, and shoutout to all the other inductees!
